Pets With Passion I would not recommend this small of a tank. Bettas are very territorial, so if you are wanting to introduce tank mates (and want them to live) I would buy a bigger tank if I were you. At least a few more gallons. Hope I helped! Have fun with your future/current fish! :)

Kianna Morrison yes, it will be fine as long as you don’t overcrowd it and the flow is not too harsh. However, if you can, definitely get a bigger tank as it is easier to maintain and is better for your fishes longevity

The image on the package is irrelevent. goldfish are nice and big fish that grow to be very huge, specially the cometes... if you want happy goldfish, give them at the very less 10 gallon per fish and they need to be at less to of them, so start with a 20 gallon... I have a 26 gallon comunity tank with 2 goldfish and several other species. I have strong filtration, this is why am able to keep them with succes, but if I could, I would upgrade, and I will eventually upgrade at one point... for bettas, 2,5 gallon is the absolute limite... but let just say it is super small and if it is your first experience, you better try to get a bigger tank. a 10 gallon is perfect to start up in the hobby, as it offer enough room for small fish, isin't that expensive and it allow you to get start and to understand more about cycling the tank and everything. nano tanks should ironicly be for expert only, as they know how to balance an unforgivable tank. the smaller the tank is, the smaller the marge of manoeuvre is if you do mistakes... so yeah, if you want a betta, at less 5 gallon, even though they would enjoye bigger tanks. 2.5 is only if you are an expert, but even then, it is freaking small...

They actually don't swim into "dirty water" commonly or at all, the streams and shallow but large ponds they live in, because of their "shallowness" usually are muddy, but dirt mixed with the water does not = dirty water. Parasites, bad bacteria, bad water quality, and dangerous chemicals / minerals in the water = dirty water.

Hayden Novak no, that is actually a common misconception. Betta fish thrive more in clean water. They live in creeks and rivers and streams that are dirty, but they swim to cleaner areas. Dirty water can lead to illnesses.

never had a fish since; been like 10 years. I raised them as an elementary schooler so I guess I got lucky. Never did water changes.Id just refill what was lost from evaporation. When it got too dirty Id dump all the water out, scrub the tank with soap and water, and rinse the gravel in a strainer. All bad ideas. Cycled it unknowingly by replacing dead fish from ammonia poisoning

a 5 gallon woulf be better. even though male bettas can survive in small tanks, they thrive when they have room. plus trust me, once u get into this hobbie it chains you in, and you may want to get tank mates for your fish. i started with a 20gallon tank for my betta and added guppies, shrimp, snails and mollys and a few others. but if ur just starting out, the best option would be a 5 g or more, small tanks are hard to cycle and maintain.

hey I have the same tank and it works well. don't be surprised if your filter is really loud at first, it just needs to adjust over some nights. Just so you know until the filter is in use for a while, it won't work very well. I have to change the water out every 2 weeks. good luck, is that your upgrade for your betta or are you going to own 2 bettas? I have that same exact tank and a 5 gallon tank so I can own 2 bettas. I'm trying to convince my parents to let me use 2 tanks in my room

I'm getting a betta fish and I was wondering should I buy the tank then set it up and let it run then go back and get my fish the next day? Or should I buy it all the same day and put the fish in a mini tank with water conditioner?

You can add bacteria through a bacteria supplement, and use dechlorinator. Then you can add the fish immediately. Waiting 1-4 weeks in unnecessary.

+CiniPod 460 in short, no. the only way bettas can live together is only if they were all female, but even that is risky. they usually have to be introduced to each other at a young age and there needs to be more than 2 bettas. hope this helped :-)

+Natalie Lauren I don't think you change it because you have to restart the nitrogen cycle. Or maybe not because you have old plants and stuff. I guess it depends on yourself lol. I wouldn't though because you have all your good bacteria.

you have to change the filter around once every month but what you do to introduce the new filter to your old & good bacteria is you put the old filter below and a new filter above for a little bit until you see the new filter has some bacteria on it. then you can take your old filter out from below and stick with the new one! i hope this helped :-)

Hey there, loved this video. Have you tried feeding your fish bloodworms or brine shrimp? A friend recommended it to my betta fish and my once unenthused fish is now super excited at feeding time. Flakes are fine, but I heard variety is really good for their diets. :)

I have told u once about my betta dying and I got a new one but he did and I think it was the food because it would sink to the bottom and turn almost like spongey so what food do you recommend because I have been have trouble with the food
