I have a pepper and a julii cory cat. I also have ordered 4 orange lazer cory cats all in a 40 gal. . Once I get my 125 going I believe I will go with 20 to 25 salt-N-pepper corys. They are a type of pygmy cory that only get to inch and a quarter.

Cory Cats are actually my favorite freshwater aquarium fish. I have a pair of Greens in my 5 gallon Fluval Spec 5 and they share the space with one Golden Gouramis and 2 Ghost Shrimp. They all get along great together and it they seem to be a great low maintenance match.

They are cool fish. They interact with each other, so schools of 6-10 are good

That was good info for the most part, however if you have corys you should really have 6 or more of the same species (meaning not 3 panda corys with 3 bronze corys) they are a schooling fish that gulps air so it is optimal to have 6 or more in a relatively shallow tank, the further up they have to swim for air the more stressed they get. Also gravel substrate is fine especially for the larger corys but they really do much better in dirt or sand, much easier on their barbels and if u look closely at them in a sand tank they actually pump the sand out of their gills which is their preferred method of sifting

In my opinion, A cory is definitely better because they do not need wood in their diet. Plecos require wood, and lots of it

Hi! The answer to your question really depends on the size of your tank. A pleco needs a MINIMUM of 55 gallons, although I would still recommend bigger as they get quite large. Due to the large tank size requirement, I would say corydoras are the better option. However, you do need a minimum of four corys, they need friends. BUT, if you are looking for fish to eat algae, I wouldn't say either is a good option. There are no true algae-eating fish, but I have found platys to be absolute pigs that eat anything and everything. If you are looking for BEST results, I'd say you need to scrub the aquarium down.

Hey I was planning on a 10 gallon aquarium. Would it be acceptable to have about 4 or 5 panda cories? Also I hear these cories are a little harder to care for. Is this true? Have any panda cories died in your tank?

I don't have any experience with Gouramis, but I have had success with all different types of tetras. Glowlight or Neon Tetras would work best in a 10 gallon

The tiger barbs will probably pick on the cory's. If you want to try it, you are most welcome to. I have never tested it.

Probably as a fry and juvinile, but they can grow to max size of 3-4 inches, so probably not when they become larger
