how did you create those star moss balls?
Fresh Aquatics
Fresh Aquatics - 7 years ago
As I was relatively new to the hobby at the time of creating this tank; I wrapped river stones with moss and cotton thread hoping the moss would attach itself. After the thread deteriorated, and the moss let go, I purchased some empty filter bags to keep the moss in place (these don't breakdown in the water coulomb). Using unpolished stones might have negated the need for filter bags, but I haven't needed to change them yet. The rest is just trimming maintenance.

Lovely aquascape. I only miss one crucial thing to make it a habitat for corydoras: a large piece of sandy bottom. Corydoras really need that to do what they were made for: dig into the sand to find their food.
Fresh Aquatics
Fresh Aquatics - 8 years ago
they eat the food that falls down that would otherwise turn into algae...
Telepiet
Telepiet - 8 years ago
+Fresh Aquatics For eating algae you'd better take Otocinclus catfish. They are the same size as Corydoras pygmaeus and are real algae eaters. Although Corydoras also eat some algae, they are mainly bottom feeders that requier a sandy bottom they can plough through. Otocinclus catfish don't need a sandy bottom but only plants and driftwood, which your tank both provides.
Fresh Aquatics
Fresh Aquatics - 8 years ago
+Telepiet Precisely why I have them; dig through my HC Cuba so it doesn't get riddled with algae.
