Watched the entire thing as soon as i saw the massive rocks I was disappointed throughout the rest of the build sadly imo I don't think it came out nice. As long as the owners are happy with it that's all that matters. Hard workers just poor execution.

I binge watched the whole thing too! You're just as anal as I am! I am looking to do a pond in the back corner of my yard near the fence like this one. A concern of mine is that I have a tree that is still fairly small that is ten feet away from one wall and 8 feet away from the other wall. The tree was planted four years ago before I had this idea. The fence is a clay colored solid vinyl six foot privacy fence. The tree is a tri color beech that will grow roughly 25 feet tall by 25 feet wide. I have staked the tree in a way that it will have a big japanese style niwaki curve back towards the house at an angle away from the fence ( I hope this makes sense). I would like to incorporate the tree if possible. I was thinking I could make a kidney bean shaped pond with the tree at the "point" of the bean if you will. I'm curious if the root system of the tree would interfere with the pond. What do you think? I also kind of wonder if the tree is too close to the fence to even pull this off.

I just bought a 55gallon tank for my "baby" koi. Someday my dream is to build a waterfall pond similar to the one I watched you build. I've even thought about removing my dining room furniture and putting in a prefab plastic pond with a bistro table so I can enjoy my fish with my morning cup of coffee, and of course other times of the day as well. Can a house that was built in the 1880's support the weight? I loved what you did. I live on a rocky hillside and wondered if the natural terrain could be used? How cold can the temprtature get outside without harming the fish and how much cubic space is needed for each full sized koi? I could go on and on with my questions...my last one is kind of obvious. How much does a pond similar to what you built, cost to build and what is the annual upkeep?Thank you so much for the tutorial. The more I learn, the more I love my fish.Thank you.....Stephanie

Heya Eric and the team. I'm in the process of a pond upgrade when spring comes and i will be adding plants around the edges of my pond inbetween the rocks without the pots. Is it safe to install plants without the pots? Ive heard some plants (mainly yellow flag iris) as well as some other plants can damage the pond liner with their roots. Have you had any experiences with liner punctures due to roots? Thanks

Where is the 17th video? I can't find anywhere where you show how you connect the filter and the waterfall. Did you run a 2 inch pipe from the filter to the waterfall? Did I miss something? Or the pipe you glue a valve on at the end of this video is attached where? The waterfall or the bottom of the pond?
By the way, the subtitles are very funny - and not very accurate.
Thanks - I love your videos. As a goat owner myself, I really enjoyed Billie Jeans joy at jumping on rocks.

At the very beginning, when you planted the purple leafed lily, you planted in a void on the outside of the coping stones. The liner there looked very short. I'm trying to envision doing this -- while at the same time remembering the warning about letting dirt get up against the water (to avoid a capillary action induced leak.) Can you explain how to do that without that sort of problem? Thanks! Loving the videos!
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 7 years ago
Load the pocket with gravel and extend the gravel outside of the liner keeping the possibility of dirt contact to water not possible. The use of expanding foam to shield dirt from falling into the pond is always a good idea too.

Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

I love rewatching this series. I do have a question. I noticed you guys stuck a water lily plant right into the pond without soil or anything. Is this because it should latch right into the rocks lining the pond? With every pond I've had, we've always just stuck them in a pot. Would it be bad to have a soil layer on top of the rocks?
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 7 years ago
IN Ecosystem ponds we frequently let the lily run around the bottom of the pond. Keeping them in a pot is much easier to manage.

This is a great series. And extremely informative. Thank you so much for your sharing. Do you have a series that specifically focuses on choosing the correct filtration for the pond. And how to choose based on total gallons, fish volume and such. I checked out the Helix web page as well. But that was only a very brief overview as well. Focusing on how they function and setting up the system? Thank you

Years ago,  I had this tiny little garden size Walmart koi pond, it left me wanting a nice one like the kind you have.  I use to come home from work and I swear they came when I called "fishy fishy" when I would feed them. My daughter was really tiny and loved to see them.  I don't know if they heard me or they just knew it was feeding time.  But we use to like calling the fish over.

I just finished building a 1500 gal pond like this from your video. Is it normal for the water level to be a quarter to a half an inch lower within a day or two of running the waterfall? Or do I have a small leak? Thank you!
jason mathias
jason mathias - 8 years ago
+ThePondDigger Thank you! Yeah, my waterfall is pretty heavy. Half the waterfall lands in the water while the other half lands at the pond edge on the flat rocks splashing into the pond. The waterfall foam didn't seal the waterfalls decent completely, and some water leaks through the rocks and trickles down to the pond underneath the waterfall.

I have binge watched this entire thing all the way through - every episode! The end result is beautiful!! Awesome job! The goat is adorable, btw... Lol. I do have a few concerns about having a pond hough, and please pardon if my questions have already been asked an answered; there are a lot of episodes to sift through comments...
1. What happens hen there's a heavy downpour of rain, or worse - a hurricane? Is all lost?
2. How do yo change out the water and how often does the water need to be changed?
3. Do the fish feed naturally on the plants/algae/bugs or what do I feed them?
Thanks! :)
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+DudleyMooreFan This is a great sized pond for many goldfish or just a few koi.
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+DudleyMooreFan
1. Grade the property away from the pond and install an overflow to keep the water away from the pond.
2. This pond could use a small water change once a month for routine maintenance and we do recommend this pond get drained once a year for annual maintenance. There are other more advanced ponds with fancy life support systems that do not require the annual drain and clean.
3. yes the do feed on the ecosystem naturally but do better if you offer them food as well.

Do you have any video's of ponds you've completed that do look about the same and have koi?  This was very good and educational!  What would something like this cost to build if it was a DYI project?  Where did you get all the stones from?  Thanks Eric!
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+Rick Gray I don't have any final footage from a pond this size with koi swimming around for a glamour shot. This DIY installation would likely cost you a few grand. We sourced the river rock from a local quarry and the sexy top rock from a local rock yard. Here is a video that might inspire you. The pond is about three times the size. https://youtu.be/jLrPYktQ9mk

Hi Eric

Greetings from Australia. Wonderful series of videos.
And we all love the goat. Do you have any flowers left on that site ?

A couple of quick questions:
(1) early on your seem to refer to "45mm EPDM". Clearly I have mis-heard or are unfamiliar with the shorthand you are using. I am planning to use 1.06mm EPDM ... and wonder whether this is thinner or thicker than what you are using ?
(2) That pre-backed patch you are using looks simple. But I don't know if I can obtain them here. Can one just cut a piece from excess liner and apply one's own goo to make a patch ?
(3) Also interested to know how to properly specify the underlay, which in my case will go over ground that may have tree roots nearby. Clearly the underlay needs to be just as flexible as the liner itself.

Much appreciated
KS
Ken Seton
Ken Seton - 8 years ago
+ThePondDigger Actually I've just discovered that when the industry says "45 mil" is DOES mean "45/1000" of an inch. And this translates to 1.14 millimeters. So there is no "1." leading the 45. So now fully settled. There are generally two thickness sizes available in Australia, with the first by far the the most common:
1.02 millimeters (what you would call "40 mil")
1.14 millimeters (what you would call "45 mil").
No need to reply to this.
Everyone enjoy their ponds !
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+Ken Seton No worries! Thanks for clarifying.
Ken Seton
Ken Seton - 8 years ago
+ThePondDigger Thanks Eric.

(1) Just to confirm, when you (and other sites) say
"45 mil" you actually mean "1.45 mil" and when you say
"1.45 mil" you mean 1.45 millimeters.
(you do NOT mean 45/1000 of an inch).

(2) Also, is this the same material as the "Black EPDM 45 mil" advertised as roofing membrane ?
Sorry to be pedantic, but I want to make sure my order is right and at the best price wihout ordering the wrong stuff !
thanks
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+Ken Seton

1. 45 mil EPDM is the standard rubber used in the US for the last couple decades. I'm curious as well. I can only imagine it would drive the cost up quite a bit for shipping.

2. In the US there was a glue that we could get our hands on for patches and seams like you are talking about. I can't get the product anymore so we are forced to use the patch and primer.

3. The fabric we get is called geotextile underlayment. You can find the product in construction trade for paving as well.

Best of luck to you on tracking down the resources. Thanks for watching!

+ashish pol You can certainly use sand in the bottom of the pond. The fish will likely move it around and kick it up when they are swimming. We did a small shark pond as an experiment many years ago in a garage. We used a fine aragonite sand on the bottom of the pond. It was FANTASTIC!

I have a huge problem with raccoon's, they'd have a party with those rocks. Once my back sliding glass door broke and for 3 days we/I had to stand guard all night to keep the buggers out. I'd stand by the sliding door with a broom and would swat at them if they tried to get in, and by 7 am in the morning they were playing in my backyard with planter pots and stuff like that as if a child was playing with a ball. Not kidding.

However, I don't find them to be that cute and prefer to think of them as pests that need to be relocated back to the wild spayed & neutered and with rabies shots, because as it is right now, if I was to have a pond in my front yard they'll fight over the water, as last week 2 were growling at each other over a dog dish of water that's for my chickens. Raccoon's have real scary growls that can go very high pitched or very low in tone. So, I'm in a dilemma with the raccoon situation as they aren't going away anytime soon in my neighborhood, and will have to build in some sort of ledge where they can't pollute the water with their hands...I don't know.

I loved the videos! Im thinking about incorporating a pond in my back yard behind my house. My yard isnt very big and i have a slope about 10 feet from my house and i was originally going to build a retaining wall (maybe waste high or slightly higher) and level out the rest of the yard level with the bottom. I live in Michigan and If i incorporated a retaining wall with a pond/waterfall do you think it would be a good idea? Or do you see possible problems that i may not be aware of? Also do you have a suggestion on where I could get kits like you show in your videos? Rocks? Pond liners and components and plants?
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 8 years ago
+Jeff Moiles Hey Jeff I would consider doing the retaining wall waist height like you said and have the waterfall on the slope breaking through the wall and spilling into the pond. We do this in CA regularly. We do have kits available on line, thanks for asking! Here is a link to our website with kits - https://theponddigger.com/pond-kits/

Most of the pond kits we put together for our clients are customized to meet our clients design rather than you buying a kit and making your design fit the kit.

We are of course poised to assist in your DIY pond design too. Let me know what we can do to get you dialed in! eric@theponddigger.com

Hi, i watched your tutorial from the start and i love your work. I got inspired and im planning to build my pond infront of our house.  I was wondering if concrete is good? i dont know where to get a pond kit here in the philippines so ill go for concrete with framed metals and finish with waterproof cement, for decor ill use rocks that are lying around the house and  waterplants for filtration  for accesories im only planning for waterpamp and will build an altar on the middle.  do you have any suggestion?

I am planning a build for an off grid house, and I have a few question's for you.

(1) I am going to have a greenhouse on the Southern side, and I am in planting zone 6c. Is it possible to have part of my pond in the greenhouse, and part of it outside the greenhouse? I will be putting pure blue tilapia in my pond, and they can't get below 47 degrees or they die. It gets cold here in winter, last winter got down in the 20's. So if a good part is inside that should keep the water warmer. Do you think this is doable?

(2) My next question is, if you do think that part in, part out is doable ,since the water in the greenhouse will be warmer, how deep would it need to be so the cold don't get to my fish which prefer 70 degree water? The idea is they can go outside the greenhouse or inside depending on which temperature they prefer, and come in to hide from predators if need be.

(3) How can I figure out how much temperature the waterfall will need? I need a decent sized pond. I will put the waterfall inside. Tropical plants will be in the greenhouse. Keep in mind I will be running the pumps and lights off my battery bank, which is solar powered. I need 12 volt pumps if possible.

(4) Can you recommend 12 volt pumps and how can I figure out how much pump I need and waterfall to get enough air in the water for the fish? I can build a very high waterfall since I will have a greenhouse big enough for trees.

Thank you, and what are your thoughts?

Hey I love all your series! I was wondering if you think its possible for one person to do this work? I think I could do all the digging myself fairly easily (if not time consuming), but I'm worried about the large stones.  A Skid steer is easy to rent, but expensive.  How much did all the stones and gravel end up costing you?
Thanks again! Great series

ThePondDigger - 9 years ago

Just wondering if you have fish in a pond ,do you need a pump?
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 9 years ago
+Rana Rana You can keep fish in a pond without a pump but you are limited on how many fish you can have because with no circulation, filtration or water movement on the surface of the pond oxygen levels will be low and you will need to rely on the aquatic plants to process the waste byproduct from the fish. But NO you do not need a pump.

You have such a gentle manner and have encouraged me tremendously! Two questions for you, is there some kind of 'formula' for getting an estimate on how much rock I'll need to order of each type? Also, the black foam...how many canisters do you typically use in a pond of this size? I'm hoping to find it locally but think I might have to order it. Thanks so much for everything!
Jens Sigurdson

Thank you for all the videos! It must have been a tremendous job to both film and make the pond. I have seen them all and collected my thoughts and questions here :-)

Here in Denmark we have freezing winters and hot summers, so any tips and tricks on concrete ponds would be a great help in deciding witch material to use. The pond I am planning is going to service as a drinking pond for our house pets too. Including miniature pigs and Great Dane dogs. I fear that the plastic membrane is going to break under a 'drinking beach' if it only have loose rubble over it?

A video on lining materials (PVC, EPDM, rubber, concrete) cons / pros, building price, would be highly appreciated.

DeMe Srvl - 9 years ago
Fish won't help keep it clean; duck poop isn't pelleted like rabbit or goat poop, which can be eaten by fish. Plus, gold fish are heavy waste producers themselves. You just need a couple for skeeter control. IMO, bottom drain is the most important component for duck pond
Jalyn Evans
Jalyn Evans - 9 years ago
Thanks for the input DeMe….they seem to like to dive so we made it 3 fret deep in the center.  We will probably try to put plants along the edges and not in the pond, I have read that they will eat almost anything plant wise in there.  We were thinking of trying to put fish in to help keep the pond cleaner. Have you tried this.  WE weren't going to spend much, just some small feeder type goldfish.
DeMe Srvl
DeMe Srvl - 9 years ago
+Jalyn Evans I have. They produce an enormous amount of waste; i don't bother with gravel at all, and I make sure it can be drained all the way. Also, if they are not diving ducks (if they are dabblers), it doesn't have to be that deep. There's no point of putting plants in it; they'll die. Basically when i made a duck pond, it was for swimming and entertainment purposes, not to try and recreate nature.

I am SO grateful to have found your series - thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I had a koi pond for several years that was "designed" by the previous home owner, so my brain has been working on the design of my ideal pond for years. Now I am in the process of building my dream pond - we are finally making it happen! You have given me invaluable tips and techniques - and more importantly confidence. My biggest frustration is that I cannot move large rocks by myself, haha! This is a great video series, and I intend to share it on my blog. Many thanks!!

Hey Eric. I just recently got some water lilies & I put them in the water & my koi dug them up. I put the dirt that they need with pea gravel on top. What should I do? Can you make a special video on planting water lilies the right way. Thanks

ThePondDigger - 9 years ago
Hey Rolo! Large koi can be troublesome with water lilies! I will put this video idea on the board but can't promise how fast we will get to it. Stay tuned for a cool Frog Pond Video coming out this week! There is a water lily planter protector that has a floating top and a net surrounding the pond. Not sure of the name, you'll have to search it out. Best of luck to you.

Wow, just finished watching all 21 parts of your Pond and Waterfall construction.  We so enjoyed this series and are looking forward to starting our own.  You explained everything so clearly and the step by step process made us feel more confident to do this very soon in our own yard.
One question, our plan is to make a pond that is around 5 x 8  with a depth of 18" or so, no fish, a waterfall with lights.  It will be a slight kidney shape.  Does every pond require a skimmer because we noticed that you put the pump in there?  If the pond is not that big can we just put the pump somewhere hidden in the pond?  Thanks

Just finished the playlist and now I'm enthused more than ever to create my turtle pond, one question, how would you suggest creating an island in the middle of the pond so the turtle can exit the water and bask? I don't want to have to put an ugly fence around my pond to stop him escaping so an island in the middle is the only option, then I'll just over hang slate around the edge so he can't get out the sides.
iFarqs
iFarqs - 10 years ago
+ThePondDigger Why didn't I think of that! I was thinking I'd have to build a 3 foot mound of dirt under the liner or something! Guess that's why you're the pond digger and I'm you! Appreciate the help.
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 10 years ago
The island is a great solution for your situation. My suggestion would be to dig the pond out completely. Either use a floating island so the turtle has more room to swim in the pond (below the island) or you can also create a platform island using rock on top of the liner. Good Luck!

great series...thoroughly enjoyed all episodes...Billie Jean was a nice addition. Don't know what to say about some of the comments you got, especially, the one about the world being what is today....its a pond for goodness sake...enjoy it.
Anyway, I am starting my first pond..much smaller than this one. I don't see how you would have been able to drain this pond completely using the pond's plumbing alone. What are your thoughts on the skimmer idea vs. a pump at the bottom of the pond? Thank you!
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 10 years ago
In this pond installation you need a sump pump to completely drain it. In fact, even in ponds with bottom drains we will often need a sump pump to completely drain. We typically run bottom drains in koi ponds to settlement tanks and the pond can not be completely drained from that plumbing. It's kind of a fail safe in case you every had something disastrous happen to your plumbing your koi would not run out of water.

Thank for your kind compliments!

Hello, I watched all of the videos in the series of 21 in one go as I find the process of pond creation fascinating. I have made 3 small to middling garden ponds myself - all from scratch -all with only my poor husband as Digger.
I can see why you made the pond for the series, and when I read the comments I was so sad that you had to dismantle it. Knowing that you were probably a fledgling business and seeing how careful and meticulous you were in your habits -- I have no doubt that everything possible was recycled.
Granted the music was terrible - but hey, the guys are landscapers, not the BBC or Spielberg. Also, l was in fits of giggles not only at the tiny goat (thar?) but at one point during Video 19 or 20 my husband and I started chortling as we swear we could hear a woman in the thrills of passion in the background. Eric deserves a medal for his composure through a cacophony of cicadas, dogs barking,  children crying, men shouting, women thrilling and screaming, babies crying, frogs croaking (who must have been bitterly disappointed at the dismantling of the Toad Taj Mahal), cars and finally a tiny goat weaving and trit trotting to and fro stealing the limelight.
And I STILL learned how to put in a pond, plumbing, lighting and draining and planting. I have also got to get some of that waterfall foam. Brilliant stuff. You are a good man Eric , as they say here in NZ, your blood's worth bottling.
In the grand scheme of things, not much was wasted I would imagine. And if one dismantled pond teaches 20 000 people to make ponds for wildlife, frogs, dragonflies, beetles, bugs as well as goldfish, and creates peaceful little home havens for families to sit together in the evening. Dismantle away I say.
Please keep on with the good work.
By the way, what are the causes and suggested treatments - natural or non chemical in a goldfish pond with bugs and frogs etc , for green thread algae and what looks like a brown soft silt in the water?
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 10 years ago
This message really made my day! Thank you for the thoughtful comment! Watching our epic series all in one go is really an undertaking! You're husband sounds like a good man!! The dismantle was not a great moment but it's all for the sake of education. Understand that in the spot we choose for "The Set" it allowed us to take our sweet time filming each step under time constraints of all those that made this possible while fighting weather conditions and lighting requirements to put out a high quality educational series. The goat as you probably figured is a personal pet and a real show stopper. We enjoyed her antics on SET as much as most of the viewers! I will need to back track and watch pt. 19 & 20 for the thrills of passion as I didn't notice..... If you could only see the bloopers with the horses peeing, workers stabling, explanation retakes, Billy Jean not cooperating AT ALL, cuzzing, spitting, fighting, set malfunctions and more! You'd really be laughing! The frogs still have a very large habitat all to themselves and are croaking so loud I can hear them from inside the house as I type this reply. For your water conditions I would recommend a routine regime of beneficial pond bacteria and aquatic plants, aquatic plants and aquatic plants. That is my organic approach to almost every water quality issue.

With the state of the world being what it is today, I was sad to see so much wasted product just to film a video instruction series. Also, you mentionned this was a "set" yet in most videos all I can focus on is the little yappie dogs and the whole time I'm thinking someone call bylaw already. Also agree music is just not akin to good video. You get bonus points for filming such a great series but you fail when it comes to making the planet a better place, sorry.

Really??
TempleCityMusic
TempleCityMusic - 10 years ago
Hey sw1ng3rs, I do appreciate your concerns about being unnesesery wasteful and taking care of the environment, but let me ensure you that nothing in this pond build was wasted, except for 1 bottle of waterfall foam and some silicon. All the rock, filter, Skimmer, pump and pipes where used in another permanent pond. I know this for a fact because I filmed this build and the build where all the material was reused. What you have to understand is that it is impossible to film a pond build in this detail and quality at a customer house, no customer wants to wait 6 to 7 weeks for his/her pond to be completed. So the only way to do this is to build a set and take your time filming it.
Look at it this way, it takes most people that never build a pond, 2 to 3 attempts to build a good working one. Many after the first failed attempt will rip their mosquito breeding algae green water hole out, fill it back in and trough all the material away. Why not build a set and show people how to do it right the first time, this will result in less material being thrown away and effecting our environment.

Think about it,
Dietmar
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 10 years ago
No product was wasted in the filming of this series as we recycled all the materials into a permanent installation. The "SET" is on the lower portion of our property by our horse corrals and our native tree frog habitat that we have created to help save the species as they are endangered in our area. The yappie dog next door is our dear neighbor's dog that was panicked by all of our activity producing this educational video series, may she rest in peace as she passed away this year. When it comes to music everyone has their own taste. Country, Rock, Metal, Classical, techno.  The important thing about the music is we have the copyright on the music so there will never be an interruption in the video series over musical copyright issues. We must pick our battles on making the world a better place. Our planet's endangered frog population has improved due to our work and we are focused on educating the pond industry on the construction, care and maintenance of water features at all levels. Life is Short - Enjoy Koi.

We didn't cover electrical runs in this video. Assuming you have electrical next to the area you are building your pond, you just plug the pump into the outlet and start your system up. Consult with an electrician if you do not have power near the location of your pond build.

Wow, this set of videos was great and I really learned a lot!  I have wanted to build a koi pond all of my life.  Now that I have my own yard I'd like to make it a reality.  I'm a bit torn though as I have a large dog (still a puppy) and I fear she will certainly dig in or near the pond and disrupt any landscaping around it.  Further, I have two children under age 2.  Aside from continuing to train my pup (and watching my munchkins!), can you suggest some steps in the preparation/building process I may take to reduce dog-pond interactions?  I love the natural look but perhaps a raised or hybrid pond would be most appropriate for me.  I'd love to hear your thoughts.  Thanks!
ThePondDigger
ThePondDigger - 10 years ago
Raised ponds can be quite enjoyable and amazing. Even a raised pond could have its challenges with animals and still poses a risk to little munchkins. I would want you to really focus on the pond that well meet all your desires. Dogs need training and kids need swimming lessons. LIFE IS SHORT, ENJOY KOI.

Hey Catherine I'm glad to hear we have bee a source of inspiration for you! Yes our location in Yucaipa is a retail center. I would suggest a large holding pool for your fish during the renovation of the pond. We use a 6' round by 3' deep collapsible koi show pool for holding koi during renovations. You will need to fast the koi for a few days before your move them to the holding tank and aerate the pool heavily. Monitor for ammonia spikes daily and change 50% of the water each week.

We have rock around the base of the water lily in this pond. The rock holds the plant in place and the root systems migrate through the gravel in the bottom of the pond. Large koi can be hard on a water lily planted in any orientation. I can say that a water lily planted in a pond with a good soil, fertilized regularly will produce more blooms than the water lily planted in this pond.

This pond came out approximately 400 gallons so I would say you could have 5 to 9 koi in the pond depending on your maintenance routines. Bottom drains can certainly be a benefit to any pond but keep in mind the equipment costs and maintenance routines are very different than what we have shown in this video. That construction philosophy does not fit everyone's needs. We are in the process of organizing a pond build with bottom drain technology that I believe you will enjoy. Stay tuned.

This is a really nice project. I have a small question to make. i had a pond for about 2 years. but i had to tear it apart due to some predators. What i meant was there were some snakes like creatures came to my pond to hunt fish. I dont know my mom always complained about these creatures because my mom scared of them. So do you have any solution to keep away these snakes like creatures out of my pond site. Then i would like to make a nice pond like this. please respond to this

LOVE the Videos. Very helpful. I am on hold on a 6X10 yd pond with a 6ft high hill. the hole is dug, and the hill is built, just waiting for the funds for the liner and a 20000l pump. I was wondering about the difference with EPDM, and HPDE liners. I live in Poland, and sourcing liners can be problematic. HDPE is about 3 times cheaper, but I understand that it is hard to work with, is it really that hard. Wondering what your thoughts are. Also would love to see a short video of pond at night,

WOW! The rock delivery issue you have experienced is alarming to me! We are looking at helping a client in Texas to build out their pond for them. Hey Alora that's a fine question. More often than not we are selling customized pond kits to owners rather than just a kit in a box that we offer in our online store. We would take your pond design, figure out your goals and expectations of the pond and assemble a parts list tailored around your wishes. A Customized Pond Kit just for you is what you should be looking for.

Great question. If your pond is NEW and you've done everything right the wakening process will typically take a few weeks as it goes in and out of clarity. Be patient and wait for Mother Nature to work her magic.

Eric, as always, you have done an awesome job with the pond and the video series. I've learned a lot and am always looking for you next video. funny thing is i started my pond project before you did and you're done before i am. in my defense, i am in an area where rock is not abundant and must be trucked in. I've rocked 90%+ of my pond, set my skims and waterfalls but have been waiting for my final rock delivery for 3 (going on 4) weeks. It is very frustrating.

Awesome. One tip I'll be looking forward to is naturalizing (ie - not a square shape) the basin and tips for making it smaller. I use those water matrix cubes but I've oftened wondered if I could build the last few feet of my WF stream over those cubes to make the basin footprint smaller. Do I fold over the basin liner for that then soil on top? How does that work? etc. Looking forward to it. thanks.

Hi Eric, terrific job, wonderful that you show the how to every step of the way,you know,i really was hoping to see you clear the water and introduce fish into the pond,as all along,we were all watching you construct a "fish" pond, now without a mention of fish or introducing fish into their new home....just saying that this would have completed this set of videos an been nice to see the how to, about that aspect of the fish pond, regardless,it was a very interesting and eye opening as well.

Hey Eric, I notice with your water lily that you basically just laid it in the pond without any pot and without it burried... Is this how you do all your lily's? Wont the tuber float? and how do fish react to this? I am having a lot of troubles with my hardy water lily.. I plated it.. and 3 times the fish dug it out of the pot, even with big cobble stone covering it. Now I have no leaves on it.. and isn't seaming to grow. Thanks in advance for the reply.
