It was a memorable day of surfing at BSR with the local guys and each of us put 5 of the 6 boards through the paces. The consistency and repetition the pool has to offer is unlike anything I have experienced before. It took more time than I expected to get used to surfing the pool and switching boards every 45 minutes didn’t make it any easier. Towards the end of each session I started connecting with the boards and slowly learning how to surf the Advanced waves BSR calls “Lowers”. All the boards surfed so different but each of them had their moments. Some boards suite this wave better than others but for the most part I had fun on them all. I really felt like surfing the pool challenged me….. it was extremely fun and humbling at the same time. Stay tuned more episodes coming from this trip to BSR Surf Resort. Yewwww

Hi Noel. I'm looking for a surfboard for waves from 2 ft to 6 ft, basically a mix between fun, performance and speed. Here we have a lot of onshore days. I've been watching your reviews and I love them. But I'm trying to decide between the sampler, the uber driver, the hs untitled, the seaside and the chili churro. I'm an intermediate surfer and I'm 5'8 and between 140 and 145 lbs. I also care about durability, because I don't have much money and I want a board that can last me long and maybe in a couple years get to a more advanced level, but I have never broken a board and I still don't know have to do airs. My favorites styles in surfing are the Joel Parkinson and Andy Irons styles , and also some more progressive styles like the Craig Anderson and Dane Reynolds. I'm currently riding a 5'9 Fred rubble ci, but it feels to big and a bit slow when the waves are small or onshore. Sorry for the long text. What board do you think I should pick?

Felipe Goicoechea Uber Driver or Untitled and liters should be roughly 26ish. You can go 25.5-26.5 in liters and be good.

Hi Noel, I think that EPS/PU dont really matter on a wavepool that much since that when you are on a wave the surface area of the surfboard (size/shape/concaves) it's what matters and if its the same on EPS/PU it will behave 95% the same at least, it does matter when you paddle tho because EPS is lighter so it floats more, but on a wave that shouldnt matter as much, i think its only 5% more floaty tho, depends on the construction, you can do the math, just weight one board PU and the other EPS and do the equation of buoyancy. Also if you do the equation dont forget to factor your weight. :) I might me wrong though.

Great meeting you and your brother last weekend. Easily my best weekend at BSR! I saw Noel maybe miss 5 waves in 5 hours! 2 of those were because he was distracted. But once he figured it out, he was ripping those waves! You really can appreciate how fast he surfs until you see it for yourself. Can't wait to see which boards you liked.

What does the costs work out at a park like that? Do they charge an entrance fee & then offer wave or per session?

@lawcrob yip. Im 35 min drive down the road from jbay. But the look locales can be terratorial. That doesn't bother me though. I surf a river mouth that is like Supertubes on a sand bar, when all the elements light up. It's one of the best kept secrets 15 guys in the water max ;)

if you surf they charge roughly 100 per hour session for expert wave (no entrance fee)... if you are not surfing then they charge an entrance fee to the beach area and rest of the park.

Interesting statistics. Loved this approach! As you said before- we have to choose the right board for our personal surfing level...
