Hi Ben !! first of all, i LOVE your videos..thanks a lot! One of the most accurate surfboards review channel ever.
I have tricky question wich could turn into a suggestion for your reviews.
Everything starts from a concepts that it is not often mentioned in reviews: THE LENGTH OF THE BOARD COMPARED TO THE STANCE OF THE SURFER (Distance between feet, when the back foot is over the pad and the front foot is in a confortable but stable central position).
Beacause you have so much knowledge and skills in explaining boards, i'll ask you: How can we understand if the distribution of the volume of a board (based on the shape) is good for our stance? Expecially if we need volume...
Example: I love the LOST ROUND NOSE, but i need volume (consider me as a average fitness guy and average surf skils - 80Kg 176cm) ... there's no point to buy a RNF 6'4 or 6'6 right? this is intuitive but which is the limit??
I thought 6'0 was ok and i bought it. This board helped me a lot in restarting surfing after an ingiury but, was probably too long, in fact the main volume distribution was just after my front foot (towards the nose). I felt unconfortable cause i was pulling the tail too much into the water avoiding the wave to push me properly.
What did I do? I sold it and i bought the same lost RNF but 5'7. It was perfect!! my body was just above the board with a perfect distribution. I have a strong skateboarding background so how can you immagine i felt good with such a short board. Then, the opposite problem, years later i gained weight and i struggled with the volume! it was not enough anymore.
What's the point of all of this long and boring story?
NOW I'M AFRAID TO BUY A BOARD HAVING A SUITABLE VOLUME FOR ME (ROUGHLY 38/40 LITERS) BUT TOO LONG TO HAVE MY WEIGHT WELL DISTRIBUTED OVER THE BOARD SHAPE WHEN MY BACK FOOT IS ON THE GRIP.
I know it sound i stupid point but. what can i do in this case?
How can I understand that the volume distribution is correct compare to my natural stance?
should i just change shape?
If i go to the manufacturer websites this concept it's hard or impossible to find.
Can you help me?
maybe at the end of the review you can say for instace "this board should be 2 or 3 inches shorter than you to have a great stance to volume distribution based on knees to over head waves" or "this board is shaped to be 3/4 inches longher than you" (something like this...i gues would be a CRUCIAL information for the odience expecially if they are far from a surfshop you can just buy online without even touch the board)

THANKS A LOT AND SORRY FOR THIS LOOOONG COMMENT!!!
keep ong going you're helping us a lot!

Hey Benny. Love the honest reviews on your site mate.
Was wondering if i could get your opinion on a few things.?
Firstly, I'm looking for a board to surf here in NSW for those days its  6+ feet.
im 190cm (6'2-6'3), 90kg.
i usually ride a Chilli rare bird, 6.0' x 20', its nearly 33L. Goes really well for me until it hits 5 foot plus and starts to feel i bit small for my height.
What size Round up do you think would suit me? I'm thinking of stepping up to the 6'4(36L).
Would be riding this board on big days on point breaks and reefs around here, intermediate skills.
Any help would be appreciated. Also, whats the rocker like on these compared to the dhd sweet spot 2?
Cheers, Mick

Hi Benny... Great review. Generally, how many inches taller is recommend for overhead surf? Also, which model is your fav for overhead punchy hollow waves that has allot of paddle power and user friendly for average surfers?

Thanks for the review!

Im from Cádiz (south spain) and im between low and mid level surf.

I wan to to change my board, this looks amazing, but i don´t know if this board is only for mid-high waves and for tube riding, waves that we haven´t here.

Is this board good for me and the waves i have here? im 1,77 and 70kg so i was looking the 6,2

Maybe another model of lost?

Mate in those kind of waves I would go at least 7 foot in that type of board. In my opinion quads are stiff and if you surfed that as a thruster it would pivot off the bottom more I reckon. Nice outline and rocker tho will keep it in mind definitely!! You are right Winki is a hard wave to surf backhand particularly with 80 guys in the water! For any body that struggles to turn a bigger board you need to ride a long board for a while and once you figure how to get those suckers on a rail you will be all over a board like this. Thanks Benny good rant as always!!

Hey Ben, Did you ever surf the Rock Up?. Just ordered one for a dedicated Indo board. Im also 100+ kg and went for the 6'6. My mate ( who is little !! ) ordered the Round Up. Im after the board that will get me in and a chance on those perfect tubing days. What do reckon?
BTW....Love the channel....

What are the differences between the Round Up and the Fred Rubble round tail you used as a step up in the past?

I aspire to be a board reviewer. What are the first things you should do when starting a board review channel and how do you get surfboard companies to lend you boards to try and review? Or how do you get a job for a board reviewer company (such as yourself) to test and post about boards?

Hey Benny, thanks for the review. Besides increasing the length did you also increase the volume? Would you mind to share your standard HPSB dims to get an idea of how you sized yours? Cheers mate!

+Drew Green Hey Drew, great question! I always ride 'step-ups' a little bit longer (6'6-6'8) whereas my standard shortboards will be ~6'2-6'4. Note, this is a standard Round Up at 38.8L's and 36-38L is about where I like to be for a shortboard or step up.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Ben

Hey Benny, stoked you reviewing this board just bought one in 6'2 , have yet to try it out (no good waves where I'm at at the moment). Good to hear it gave you confidence on bigger days, hoping it controls the speed that comes with bigger waves

+CompareSurfboards.com Yeah had it out the other day in some solid overhead clean waves, Defiantly holds well, no sliding out or anything like that, feels like a great dependable board for when waves get solid! Also had it out in some  shoulder / head high waves another time and still worked well
