Was für ein tolles Video und was für ein tolles Schiff - Glückwunsch !!! Hätte ich die finanziellen Möglichkeiten,wäre es meine erste Wahl ! - Leider reicht es bei mir nur für einen 24 ft kleinen Küstenkreuzer,der aber auch toll und für mich zufriedenstellend ist ! Absolutely wonderful interior, and a glory-hole of neatness and innovation. I love every feature, and the hull volume and storage space absolutely beggar belief for a 40 footer. Just a pity it looks like a large delivery van with sails...

I don't knoe about older models but in Southampton Boat show it looked much better finish than sirius. Don't get me wrong, I think sirius has great concept and ideas but quality and finish didn't look very amazing and it was much smaller and less spacetious, but fir this kind of money you could get lagoon 40 cat. Really pointless. If sirius has good ideas and low price like other 40' boats like 250£ max, it could proof itself over naxt few years and build good name. But coming to market relatively new with prestige price? Not a good move. Maybe some germans buy but don't think anyone else would... Sorry its just my opinion

Hey Torsten, im really drawn by the Sirius 40DS, and i love the solutions, particularly that you managed the diagonal berth to sleep 6. I would be interested in the boat for circumnavigation / live aboard, my feeling is that it manage quite elegant to sleep 6, but where do diving-bottles, wet-suits etc go? (compressor in tool room I'm sure) and maybe a factory option combined davits / radar and radio antenna mount option ?
Davits over "dingy garage" as that seems much better use of internal space.
The 40 feet size also seems like a more relaxing boat short-handed, in that the overall forces involved on a 60 or larger boat scale quickly along with annual maintenance budgets ha ha.
But seriously, if one want to live aboard, im thinking the diagonal berth become "storage" that can double as sleeping space in a pinch? whats your thoughts.?
Maybe make one of your excellent videos talking specifically about what people have done the last 3-4 years with this boat, lessons learned and solutions for fulltime living on the sirius?

Its a 40Ft boat. It's not an 50ft Amel to have all the stuff you want. It's a great boat, smart design, designed to sail. Every boat needs modifications to make it a liveaboard. And if you really want to live on a 40 footer, just throw one cabin away and make it a storage unit. you can cram sooooo much in there. The design of this boat lets you be free. I understand that you want some compressors, than you will need more power, so i suggest some solar cells or some wind/water generators, to power that beast. And the roof lets you have a lot of space for solar...

Mr. Schmidt, your design team has done wonders with ergonomics, lighting, sight lines, storage, versatility--on and on. My only suggestion is that you replace the outer cockpit swing door with some type of pocket door, as the cockpit footprint is rather small forward of the binnacle. Some designers avoid the horizontal sweep by using a vertically traveling panel.

I was so looking forward to seeing this at the Southampton Boat show, it was actually one of the reasons my partner and I went to the show.
I was however very disappointed with both the ds and the man himself. The d
Ds felt very crampt and had little space to move about once inside.
Will be looking at other makes of deck salons such as the Moody.

As a piece of engineering these have to be the smartest designs out there. The cleverness of the insides pretty much makes up for the fact that it's a horribly ugly boat from the outside. But I can't help but to wonder how this double decker bus sails? Yes, plenty of clever design but if it sails like an old bilge keeler, what's the point?

That said, I'd give almost anything to have these guys design an interior into a more performance oriented hull without the apartment complex on top. I realize the vertical room is to key to this design, but the amount of ingenuity these guys have, I bet they could trick out some 40 foot, med. displacement ocean boat pretty well.

Ach ja. Mein Traumboot. Moody hat ja das Konzept übernommen, konzipiert aber die Pantry auf gleicher Höhe zur Sitzgruppe. Kochen bei Seegang wäre dann nicht mehr möglich, weil man kreuz und quer durch den Salon schleudert. Aber es gibt ne zweite Mittschiffkabine. Wie wäre es denn, den Innensteuerstand nach vorn zu verlegen, das Boot auf 47 oder 50 Fuss zu strecken? Eine zweite Mittschiffskabine und die long legs der größeren Wasserlinie wären doch ein Traum. Dafür darf auch die zweite Toilette nach hinten wandern. Obendrein wäre die Werkstatt ein richtiger Raum. Dann noch der unglaublich schöne Ausbau von Sirius und die besseren Propotionen des Decksalons im Verhältnis zum Rest des Bootes , es wäre ein Traum. Ich weiß, Sirius will kleine Mannschaften ansprechen. Aber können nicht zwei auch 47 oder 50 Fuß heute noch sicher segeln? Ein Schiff dieser Länge mit tiefer Pantry wie auf der Sirius wäre doch die eierlegende Wollmilchsau, von der jeder Fahrtensegler träumt. Allerdings eher mit 47 Fuß, anstatt 50, um in Lohme, Klintholm oder Kloster noch anlegen zu können. Ok, Kloster ist schon mit 45 Fuß grenzwertig in den Boxen. Ich würde dafür mein letztes Hemd geben. Ohne Lottogewinn müsste sich Sirius allerding auch mit meinen Hemden begnügen. Und zu guter Letzt alles mit Twinkiel. Ich werde weiter davon träumen, einer Sirius 47 ds mit Twinkeel, drei Kabinen vorn, zwei Bädern, eins vorn, eins hinten, oder mit 50 Fuß, wenn sich dann das zweite Bad vorn realisieren ließe und hinten vielleicht eine Garage fürs Dinghy.

I can't wait for them to make a 50 ft vessel. Because if Sirius team can make an exceptional boat design like the one above, id love to see them make it in a 50' Ft or more. Bavaria, Moody, and Hanse, might be amazing boats but I think they could surpass the quality and exceptional design. Great line of teams you have there Sirius! thank you for making our sea a safe playground. May the wind be always at your back. Fair winds my friend.

Of course it is. Poeple sailed with much shorter ships to America. This boat has no problem to circumsail the planet, the only question is, do you want a 40 ft ship, because it is capable to circumsail the planet or do you want the long legs of a 50 ft yacht, because the time you spent on the ocean, is a bit shorter, if the ship is 10 feet longer, but more difficult to sail, because you need a fitter crew.

Like Dr. Whos Tardis, it's bigger on the inside.I can't think of any way at all to improve the design. There is always something on other boats. Change anything the slightest bit on this and it would detract. I am homesick for this boat!

This boat is now my husband's and my dream! Such brilliant design. It's like the Apple of sailing yachts. However, where does the dinghy go? It's hard to believe that something so basic hasn't been factored into the design. Surely there must be some accommodation for it. Anybody know?

Kazooka, "davids" is the answer :-) there are no practical space for a garage and its a mess to stick it on the deck and would close all light access for the cabins. personally would have them do a "bridge" design in the rear to both pick up the dinghy and also electronics and solar panels etc.

@Kazooka These guys are all about customization. This boat is just an example for basic layout; they meet with you to discuss what special needs are required all the way down to making the drawers in the galley the perfect size for your dishes. This isn't something you buy off the showroom floor, but something that is built for you. Need one of the cabins built into something else? No problem.
