Even thinking of retiring my CI Fred Rubble as the Evo has become my go to for almost all the waves I like to ride.
and loved it until it clean snapped under the lip of a Oaxaca barrell.
Living in Texas I travel to surf so I need a versatile board that works
in waves ranging from windswells in the Gulf Coast, to California and
perfect barrels back home in Mexico. Now I am shopping for a new board,
not sure whether to go for the SKX or another EVO.. I really like that
it's available in the Timbertek construction too. Thoughts on FST vs
Timbertek?
That board has made me a better surfer. I don't have an EVO (looking at buying one because i love the Omni so much) but from what I can tell the EVO will go better in surf under head high - I live in the south coast of Australia and we usually get waves shoulder high and above. When its at waste high the Omni, well it doesn't struggle but its probably not the best board - it takes a little more work to paddle in. So depending on teh waves you surf maybe teh EVO would be better?
Dude, this may sound obvious but have you thought of a Hypto Krypto? They are light, stable, small, fast and fun. Just don't buy the global surf industries ones they are fucking garbage. Also if you are looking for a higher volume board that has epic performance try the DHD black diamond. I had one and I loved it - amazingly explosively responsive board. It really is just a high volume performance shortboard. Not as easy to paddle as the others though.

Overall, best board I've ridden.
In knee to slightly over head clean conditions the Eco is peerless in wave catching- speed generation and turning.
Down the line it feels fast but as soon as it gets on rail it bites and turns so easily.
Only downside is the deep footwells in the deck. Much deeper than any other board I've owned.
My question is should I stick to the same volume that I ordered my vader for the evo? In your vader review you went with a bigger board, did you do the same with the Evo?
I also went around the top end of my volume range with the vader and love it, but sometimes I think I could have gone smaller. Sounds like I need to by a couple more in different sizes! Lol!
Thanks!
