i guess i know what u r saying ;) i wanted people to enjoy the scaping rather then giving advice as there's plenty out there..and i'm no expert, trust me..so i thought, let's make it without anything and see what happens..i try to put stuff in the description for people and i can tell i made few mistakes with the choice of music but...it was one of my first videos as well..i hope i have improved towards the end :)

They loved the concept, they disliked the fact that you didn't hold their hand the entire time and narrate the video so they didn't have to use one single brain cell. These are the same type of people who plagiarize a book report on Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Zero imagination or problem solving skills.

Hello Adrian, how are you ? Firstly, WOW such an amazing aqua, congrats ! It's really beautiful ! Secondly, I have some questions to ask :
- How many litres it is ?
- Did you remember how much you paid for all the plants, sand, wood, etc ?
- Do you think I can do a similar aqua with my 60L ?
Thank you very much for taking time to read me, good bye from France ! (Yeah I live here ^^)

Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 6 years ago
+Camille L hi there, merci for watching and your kind words! It was 96 litres, two pieces of wood were around £30, sand was about £10, aquasoil was around £30, rocks were around £4 per kilo and I've used maybe 2-3kg and plants are normally around £4-5 per plant. And of course you can do it, if I could, anyone can! Good luck, ask if you need anything.

New subscriber...I don't ever comment, but I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoy your videos bud. Gives me a lot of helpful ideas. I am considering doing something like this on a bigger scale with my 75 gallon. Maybe two small islands and a large one. Anyhow, lack of narrative is preference I think, and you can find out everything you need to if you pay attention and do the research. What's the fun of making a carbon copy of someone else's art. strong work Adrian. Keep them coming. Cheers

Poor fishes. They are suffocating with the amount of co2 you pump into your tank. Learn to grow plants properly before adding fish. You need to get the balance right
Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 6 years ago
just checked the video again to make sure i'm not talking nonsense here, when they 'go top to grasp for air', they are actually being fed? so they are grabbing food, not air..sorry my friend :)
Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 6 years ago
yeah I don't think they are doing that, in fact I've never seen them "gasping" for air, my drop checker never turn yellow, I always under dose everything, Co2, ferts etc. but hey, what do I know? ;)

Hi Adrian this is a beautiful tank. Looks like a great idea if I want to create a new tank. Only thing I am concerned about is the maintenance. Wouldn't it be difficult to clean? Like, the soil may spill over to the sand and vise versa. Especially when cutting the grass.
Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 6 years ago
Hi Alex, thanks for watching. After i swapped the white sand for a bit more natural looking one it became a lot easier. Just like any other tank, everything was off the glass so no problems there and then siphon up the rest..

Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 7 years ago
+The_AlphaFox hi there..Just as normal.. Siphon top layer of the sand, replace it and trim the plants where necessary, water change..Main problem was that it was getting dirty very quickly so I'd have to do it very often.. Thanks for watching

Adrian's Aquatics - 7 years ago
o.k..which aquascape? i was trying to create an 'island' composition, same as you would when u make a 'u-shaped' one, or 'triangular' one so yeah, in that sense you are right, it is a copy..but then, isn't everything a copy? every aquascaper has done those compositions and designs so, are they all copying? I don't think so..these are basic guidelines to follow, and so i did..

A beautiful aquascape! Would like to see it in the long term... You showed all the steps, but not how you fixed the moss to the root...

You didn't even cycle the tank and you dump fish in right away..
Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 7 years ago
well, if you watched properly, you'd see that the tank and filter were well cycled, even most of the aquasoil was re-used and of course i did test water and re-used most of the water as well, so, no, I think you are wrong and my tank was cycled and I did not just DUMP the fish in.. I'm sorry but it is a little insulting if you ask me...but thanks for watching :)

Arcane Neo
Arcane Neo - 7 years ago
+Adrian's Aquatics I would like to do something with a lot of rocks and roots, but they are very expansive. For the moment, I started to do something with the stuff than I already own, including an anubia on a root. I had to put plants with fast/medium and slow growing, so I though of cambomba caroliana, lemna minor, salvinia natans, azolla pinnata, clado aegagropila ...

(Hope it's ok for the names, english's not my native language, so it's pretty hard for plant's name)

Need evidence? Look at all the questions, some joking, some stupid, all wastes of time in this forum. THAT'S why you narrate your videos. People want to know exactly what you're doing and why. No one learns that just watching what looks like an infomercial... without the info.
What the hell does it take? Viewers want to hear what you have to say about what you're doing.

one more question!! on the "island" part, you put 3 different substrates, what are they and why? I am going to be making my first planted tank soon and I don't want to mess it up... that badly. Hahaha, thank you!!
Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 7 years ago
hey Colbyyy, first one was Power sand, second was used aquasoil and third was new aquasoil... too much to be writing here about benefits of power sand etc., but u can use aquasoil on it's own.. I just put used one in there to help with cycling the tank...it's all ADA products, they have other additives to complete the substrate but as i said, u can just use soil on it's own...especially power sand and additives are meant to keep your tank healthy and thriving for long periods, years even if looked after properly..my scapes never last that long as i'm always 'messing' with them ;))))

Adrian's Aquatics
Adrian's Aquatics - 7 years ago
hi, i'm not sure to be honest.. i used bits i had at home and stuff but, for this size tank i'd say £50 would be sort of marking point, going up, or down if u r lucky ;) but the bag of ADA is around £30, piece of redmoor around £20 depending on size, sand was around £5 per 2 kilos or something like that...thanks for watching ;)

substrate- Fiji sand was £16 for 10 kg, then aqua soil Malaya was about £30, power sand another £17, Bacter 100 not sure, 2x azalea roots another £25 and plants, again, not sure but about £35 or so, I did use some cuttings I had. But you don't need all of that, depends what you want in your tank.

its white silica sand  ...youre more likely to find this sand if the shop stocks marine fish as its often used in saltwater aquariums...but can be used in any type of aquarium
