I love the stonework but you lost me a bit with the spiderwood. I feel like it makes the stones look less large and imposing. I think maybe some very small foreground sized plants around the bases of the stones and maybe the wood replaced with another set of stone formations would have made it look like you were glancing at a massive formation in a borderline fantasy world but the wood kinda gives the rocks too much scale and kinda steals the glamour a bit

yea, I think it was less the type of and more the size of the piece. I think maybe one that was shorter and smaller would have been nicer (but of course that's just personal opinion). Maybe something more in the range of 1/2 - 3/4 the height of the large rock formation would have been cool

Hello Victorian, thanks for your comment. Maybe you're right. The wood must give the impression of tree in foreground, it's to enlarge the impression of depth of the rocks behind while the aquarium has no depth (only 28cm). Maybe another type of wood would have been better, afterwards it's a matter of taste :)

is this aquarium not going to have fish in it? if it will then how would you clean it to not disrupt the flow of the two layers of substrate?

Substrate + sand is a classic in aquaristic (less in aquascaping), there is enough sand so the substrate doesn't ascend. There are shrimps and soon fish in this client's tank
