+YOUSIYC7 It is not my tank! :-) yes, it looks great! maybe there is some: Taxiphyllum sp., Cryptocoryne wendtii or beckettii, Eleocharis acticularis, Hemianthus glomeratus, Anubias var. nana, Hygrophila difformis, Hygrophila pinnatifida, Rotala sp. "Colorata"... Do you mean, when you say: "matches shooting up": Cryptocoryne wendtii? :-D There are much more plants, and sure, I have made a mistake certainly with the one or other plant, but i cant spot them well enought ( and i am not an expert ;-))

Your tank is gorgeous!!!!! I also wanted to know what that plant you have towards the front of tank, among the Japonica, looks like matches shooting up. What is that plant? Sorry for so many questions, I wish to accomplish a similar tank look. ;)

How often do you clean this tank from scratch? clean the substrate and such. I imagine it's not very easy to do with all the grass? I'm new to this with grass "carpets", and would love to know :) Thank You! Beautiful aquarium!

When he pans to the left of the tank you can see a powerhead on the left pointed up and towards the middle - perhaps he uses that to disturb the water in a way to shimmer the light onto his backdrop. I could be wrong, of course...regardless, the effect is stunning.

It's reflecting the current at the surface. It is a metallic blue paint. You can actually buy sheets of it like a regular background. I would just get some spray paint personally... textures look very different under different lighting and especially on camera. It can be deceiving, but that's all it is.

It"s caused by the type and placement of lighting. He is using either LED's or Metal Halide lights placed around 6" off the aquarium. You also need surface water agitation.

I think I prefer planted tanks to marines too. Marines are awesome but they cost a fortune to set up and run.

@WarhawkRevolver Try Ebay. I work at an aquarium but we don't do much in the way of planted tanks either. However, we have people who buy their plants off of Ebay. Some people can have it too you by a day. For example, $10 can get you a lot of grass and your looking at 6$ postage depending on where you live. I would recommend quaranteening the plants you buy off of other people however, and doing some tests to make sure they're not carrying any disease.

Einfach nur toll, was anderes kann man dazu nicht sagen. Hier scheint sich auch wieder zu bewahrheiten, weniger Fische, mehr Pflanzen! Das beherzigen viele nicht, bekommen dann Probleme. Anschließend wird dann wieder gesagt: Aquarium? Das macht doch viel zu viel Arbeit.. Muss es ja nicht, wenn man es wie hier richtig macht! Eine Frage hätte ich auch noch: Kennst du noch den Namen der Pflanzenstengel bei 1:24? Gru0 und weiter so!
