@carolo107: When he photographs the tanks for his gallery, he removes the inlet and outflow tubes as well as the CO2 reactor...though, if you look at the pump & filter equipment he designs and sells for his company, Aqua Design Amano, they are all made of clear low-iron glass, so as to preserve the beauty of the planted tanks. The long and short of it is...Mr. Amano is one of the best artists in this style of creating planted tanks. I wouldn't mind setting up a tank like he has in his home.

If it's a full planted tank it's no needed to clean it, the plants take the dirt from fish and turn it into food.

in a heavy planted tank. u dont have to clean the bottom of the tank at all. as it contains the nutrients for the plants. so just pretty much leave it for the plant to do its jobs
