Any craft store should have it. Look in the needlepoint section. It's sold with different size mesh and then also different flexibility.

Salty Smol my one be taking is always flaring at the other one. I was told the black would prevent them from seeing each other. I'm going to be using the lifewithpets diy divider, I just need to find the Pvc foam first :/

I would love to do something like this but I'm so scared that they'd somehow get to each other and I know it's "only a fish" but fish are my babies and I would feel awful if anything were to happen :s

Ahahah ur so smart!!! I do it just the same! Maybe I should make a vid of some sort. Duckweed and Java moss, same as I always get. I'm restarting this tank so one step at a time eh. No plants or plant lighting yet. Small Disability budget.. But the algae is blooming well and it's healthy for my pal Merri.

When you first set up your tank, did your bettas flare at each other a lot? I've seen some other videos recommending an extra layer of mesh to make it harder for the bettas to see each other. Regardless, great set up and great video!

+KatCoyote Very good observation. Mine do flare and I'm actually going to add another layer of canvas mesh so it is going to be a double divided with half an inch of space in the middle.

I love your set up! I used to have my bettas in a 10 gallon split they grew very found of each other. I actually had started this with a different betta i had almost a year ago but then he passed away and i felt sad that his partner was alone so I got him a new partner and had them in this set up for months. I recently decided I didnt want to care for a large tank anymore because it was a lot of maintenance work and one of my betta seem to have fin rot problems and with me only having a few months left here at school I decided it was best to put them each in 2 gallon little tanks i felt it best they had there own little space till I decide to donate them to the local library's when i go home. They are both very happy and my one with fin rot has gotten so much better I'll be happy when the time comes to let them go :)

You should never put the water from the pet shop into your tank. Rather discard the water into a bucket whilst catching the fish in a net and the add just the fish to tank. prevent crossing diseases and other orginisms into your tank :)

+Tim Quérée I usually do that with fish that are bought kept in tanks, so I agree with you. In this case the Bettas are in their own cups with just filtered tap water so the possibility of disease, parasites, or other organisms is very minimal.

I was at petco and there was this... not so smart lady... she said that a black plastic mash wouldn't work. she said " the fish would try to attack eachother untill they die of stress" even though they couldn't see eachother. is this true?

+Wolf18889 the lady at the store is right and bettas are known in the wild to have at least 3 feet of space so they get territorial. Seeing each other no matter how used they are to seeing each other they will flare. It depends on the situation but I have heard of bettas jumping over dividers and killing each other. Best to just have separate tanks just to be safe. If you are so set on a divided tank I reccomend black filtration sponge as it will serve as extra biological and mechanical filtration and they will not see each other at all. Make sure the sponge is at least 1/2 inch thick.

+Wolf18889 At the store..the fish are already next to each other and see each other in little cups. With custom dividers you can get ones that are less transparent so you can control how much the fish see each other. In my own experience, Ive noticed that the fish get bored of each other in a few days and stop caring. If they were suppose to die from stress from seeing each other then all the Bettas in cups at the store would be dead.
