5th NEW BETTA FISH TANK | Guess what kind of new Bettas I got!

Hi! Happy NEW YEAR and thank you for helping me reach 16,000 subscribers! I took out my old aquastyle tank and figured I could set it up for the copper metallic male. Since he is a halfmoon male I would like for him to be in a setup where he can no longer get his fins caught on decorations. Here is the video of the tank when I first got it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JiVmPDeLAMM&t=5s I got two new Bettas and for now that might be it for me because I don't think I want to set up any new tanks for a while. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ★★Follow me on my Social Media ★★ Become a part of the #CreativeCritters Click HERE to SUBSCRIBE (It's FREE): https://goo.gl/SkhMM6 ★CREATIVE PET KEEPING INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/creativepetkeeping FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/CreativePetKeeping/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/KasiaPetKeeping PERISCOPE: @CreativePetKeeping SNAPCHAT: CreativePet Facebook FAN GROUP: https://goo.gl/plD97d ★CREATIVE PET VLOGS YOUTUBE: https://goo.gl/ec91IJ INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/creativepinkunicorn Feel free to TAG me in fanart YOU make! Hi Kasia..Happy New Year!
how are your female bettas in sorority tank?are they fighting each other?
I had 4 female bettas in 11 gallon tank, and they fighting each other and didn't want to eat.. only one survived.
and now I have 4 more (I separate them) and a couple in delivery.. should I get a larger tank?
Creative Pet Keeping
Creative Pet Keeping - 7 years ago
If you just got them they will fight for a while until they get used to each other. I would watch them closely and if anyone gets picked on too much then you can separate her into a breeding container for a day to two to rest and heal.
I'm really glad you like my videos!

they just met that day, and I bought them in different sizes.. that's my fault. Thank you for the reply :)

using bettafix is fine, you just need to be careful and use a REALLY low dose:) i would stick to more natural stuff though. but bettafix is fine as a last resort option!
Lirbs
Lirbs - 7 years ago
Yeah, but I don't get the point of even using it, then. A low dose won't help much. And why risk potentially harming your betta, anyway? It unfortunately killed mine, even with lower dosage. :(

yogosans14 I got a koi betta from Petco and it did change colors a little. It had the same coloration but the colors got richer and darker. He was a more transparent lighter red and orange and black but now all the transparency is gone and he has solid colors of red black and orange.

Creative Pet Keeping Although I myself am not an expert on fish health, I have done my fair share of research into it to conclude that BettaFix is not the safest medication to use as a treatment. Setting that aside, the active ingredients actually do nothing to mend torn fins. The only useful thing I know this product to do is mend open wounds, but even if that were the case, I still would choose a different solution. As you've probably been told, the ingredient Tea Tree Oil is the main issue when it comes to Bettas. Although the company API has tested it on labyrinth fish such as Bettas and Gouramis, and deemed it safe, that is only their experience. There have been plenty people lucky enough to have their bettas survive the use of BettaFix, but unfortunately many others who haven't. Before death, the people usually noticed that the betta was trying to gulp for air, but was having some trouble. I think that the tea tree oil is affecting their labyrinth organ negatively. I have been one of the unlucky ones that has had their betta die from it. A lot of people on popular fish forums have had it happen to their fish too. Although I'm no professional, this is why I particularly would not trust BettaFix. I hope this information helps you decide if you trust this product or not. I too agree that some more scientific research should be done, though.
Creative Pet Keeping
Creative Pet Keeping - 7 years ago
Its a interesting discussion because I hope that maybe some people might point me to some science to back up their claims so either Bettafix is confirmed to be dangerous or the myth of its danger can be debunked.

I love your tanks:} for the betta with ripped fins i recommend using aquarium salt for the treatment, it normally will heal the fins overtime as long as you catch the ripped fins quick enough. Make sure not to overdose on aq salt and to not leave the treatment in more than ten days (you can read more up on the if you'd like), i just font recommend bettafix just because it doesn't work as well and not as good at aq salt;} just trying to help

FYI Bettafix is not a good medication to use. It has tea tree oil which suffocates the labyrinth organ bettas use to breathe air. Epsom salt baths, heat and the Indian almond leaves should be enough to start the healing process. Otherwise great video, love seeing updates of your little guys :)
Tori Foote
Tori Foote - 7 years ago
Blue Bettas Bubbles I wouldn't even risk it honestly. There are plenty of other options without tea tree oil.
Goldiebubbles
Goldiebubbles - 7 years ago
Actually there is a more concentrated version of Bettafix that is deadly to bettas (I can't remember the name right now) but betta fix is extremely watered down so as long as you don't overdose they should be fine.
Creative Pet Keeping
Creative Pet Keeping - 7 years ago
Has anyone found actual research or data to back this up?
Using tea trea oil will kill any fish 100% of the time because its HIGHLY concentrated in its normal essential oil state (the point of essential oils is to highly concentrate something)...especially out of the bottle.

Betta fix only has 0.2% of melaluca..thats a super small dosage is AND that gets even more diluted when put in the tank.

FB groups, while a GREAT resource, are groups of people who share their opinions and theories based on their personal experience.. and personal experience and results vary from person to person. I asked on another betta fb group and they all said that the "don't use fix products" is a myth and that its a dosage and water parameter problem. So as you can see the info is inconsistent.. I'm going to ask the International Betta Congress and see what they say.
Lirbs
Lirbs - 7 years ago
Yes, I totally agree! Unfortunately a person on a fish forum recommended I use Tea Tree Oil as a treatment for my betta, which ultimately resulted in his death. Now, my current betta has got fin rot and I've been giving him salt baths and treating him with small doses of API's Fungus Cure medication which works wonders! His fins are already looking so much nicer. Also, I DON'T recommend heat with fin rot. Now, her betta doesn't have the rot, he has a torn fin. So it doesn't really matter in this scenario. But raising the heat actually PROMOTES bacterial growth, instead of killing the bacteria. So many people confuse the treatment of ich (raising temp to kill the parasites) with fin rot which upsets me because confusing the treatments can actually do a lot of harm.

Tori Foote correct ! anything with "fix" in it is bad for bettas.
Tori Foote
Tori Foote - 7 years ago
Creative Pet Keeping Yes, I'm apart of betta fish keepers on facebook and learn a lot from that group especially. Some very smart and experienced fish keepers there. Anything with "fix" in the name generally has the tea tree oil and is no good :( Do your research definitely and make your own judgement, I personally would not touch the stuff. I agree with you on the Indian almond leaves, natural medicine is the best!
Creative Pet Keeping
Creative Pet Keeping - 7 years ago
"tea tree oil suffocated the labyrinth organ of bettas" I am genuinely curious about this because I saw this posted a few times here and there on fish fb groups and youtube comments but I have not found any science to back it up. I would like to further read up on it. I'm going to do some research!

I do tend to already use half the dosage of BettaFix then recommended as I'm not a big fan of over-medicating fish but almond leaves are my favorite method.

Creative Pet Keeping yea I really recommend one, only thing I have to say about it is the flow is to strong so I put a sponge over it, and my betta seems to keep flaring at his reflection in the glass because they are like mirrors (maybe it's this with every tank, and maybe cause it's the 1st day). Also the better is labeled as a dumbo, but one of the fins is short, like most bettas, kind of like nemo

I have heard bad things about betta fix, but if you have had success keep using it.
Creative Pet Keeping
Creative Pet Keeping - 7 years ago
I've heard mixed things.
Mela fix has a much higher dosage and I only use Bettafix with half dosage to treat any cuts or fresh cuts or rips on Bettas Fins. I've used it for a few years and so far have not seen any adverse affects but that does not mean it might not be harmful.. has anyone done any studies besides trials done by API? I know that tea tree oil is an essential oil and when paired with bad water conditions or in high quantities I would assume liver failure in a fish.. but that's just an assumption.
