Uday Das no smaller than 3 gallon tank but bigger is better. You can also make a community tank with Betta friendly fish. There's a lot of YouTube videos on it. Good luck to you.

I had a beautiful red one similar to one :24 here when I was younger. Only seemed to get brighter&flourishedr almost a year when town home we're at had electrical fire. Lucky to escape myself gutting my room. Yet,once before that&2 or 3x ever since when I'd ultimately fall in love w/Red Oscars after inheriting Scarface (apparently&told from rock) Where people seemed find it difficult to believe it did so in 20gal long "community" tank. 2)beautiful Blue Gouramis 1)Black Angel Fish,my only concern spent afternoon w/net close to hand&ready to return 10gal he'd been in for month. Thought I'd have to w/moments it definitely had it's attention&if it intended to mess w/him? Almost seemed change it's mind&decided not to,admiring how beautiful he was as well. Eventually&rarely paid any mind at all nor had any problems ever even when/after California Newt introduced cpl wks later ;)

I have a question. I just bought a red veil tail Betta, but when I shine a light on him, I can see a somewhat purple/violet color on some of his scales. Is he sick, or natural coloring?
I previously owned a blue half moon, and never had a problem like that

Actually before the fry appear, once done giving eggs, you have to take her out, as she might be attacked by the male. As for the male, about as soon as the fry can swim horizontally you need to take him out too.

because they arent in there for a long time. it's to sell them, not to nurture them over long periods of time. the bigger space the better, i recommend 5 gallons MINIMUM. they also have them in seperate tubs in stores because SOME, not all, are aggressive towards other males - as they can be quite territorial. on the other hand it depends on the betta's personality. some love community tanks.

fishbreeder23 actually, I've only ever witnessed that precise brand of cruelty in America. It's illegal for pet stores to house any kind of fish like that in the UK, and the betta fish for sale do indeed get individual tanks. It's like keeping dogs for sale in tiny cages so small they can't turn around inside them, or keeping cats in shoe boxes. There is no excuse for the inhumane treatment of animals, if a seller cannot afford to give bettas the proper care they need, then they shouldn't be selling them. That's precisely the kind of thing that leads people to believe they can live in unheated, unfiltered fish bowls.

Thank you very much. You post about the water lettuce was very helpful. I had bought in a few. While the mother plant were growing daughters, I had some rotting leaves with roots, I wonder if these will also give new plants so I kept them in the little pond I have. I will remove them soon.

If it is less than 1 1/2 gallons it is too small. 3+ gallons is preferred. They require filtration and a heater. Please be a good pet owner.
