HI, a heater should be used to keep the Betta warm. I did a water change once a week and scrubbed off any algae. When I did the water change I would rinse the filter media in that water. I would rotate changing the media and not all at once to keep the bacteria going. Overall once the tank is established it is pretty easy to care for.

Sounds like you did the right thing for Smokey, but sometimes it's nature's way. You might want to get a "betta hammock", and a little cave for each of them too. I've found that they really love being able to hide, and occasionally rest near the top. LOVE this tank and have never seen it before. Thank you for the video!

i'm thinking of getting this. worried about the how much flow is coming out of the far left. its not too strong for the betta' is it? i like that this tank is not too small. problem with most betta tanks is that they are all really small. is there a heater in the back? enough room to put one if not?

+Inti Amaterasu Thats great. Enjoy your tanks. The downsize to a divided tank is if one Betta gets sick they all do. One tank per Betta is better. The bigger the better.

thanks! decided not to get it. just buying up used fluval chi's and other tanks of that type. sometimes you can find a good deal. it seems that its the perfect size for a betta.

I had to put an air stone in the middle to get the water flow going. I ended up selling this tank and got 5 gallons instead. Each compartment was small.

Psst.. water from an established tank holds nearly no bacteria and does not help with the cycle, just an fyi for future use :) You need filter media or substrate/rocks to help jump start.

Lovely tank! Your bettas are just beautiful, and I'm so sorry that Smokey passed away. Sometimes there's just nothing you can do. My pretty white betta named Spike died after having an illness that struck too fast for me to catch it. It happens to the best of us.

Anyway, I was wondering where you got your bettas from? Because I bought my Spike at Petsmart, and have since been warned against buying anything (especially bettas) from them since they come with diseases and illnesses from being in such small cups for long periods of time. Since then I've been terrified to buy another betta from them, but I desperately want another since I love the fish. Where would you recommend I buy a quality betta from?

That's awesome I just made a ten gallon tank with 2 dividers and added Java fern plants Just cycling the tank now and will get my beta's as well, I want too get 2 males, One for each side of the tank and get 4-5 Females for the middle in which I made the space bigger..

+chritters1 neons prefer a complete school (6+) and in that space you wouldn't be able to fit six (well, I hope you don't, anyway). anything less than a complete school will make them feel a little more insecure and may stress them out, so if you have a spare 10G somewhere, I'd ask you to please cycle it and move your neons (+ some more from the store) to that instead!

Next time you need a tank that's expensive in your area I would recommend getting the same one from Australia. Most stores like Kellyville and PETBARN and stuff like that do shipping around the world. In those stores I go almost EVERY week and I always look at tanks and stuff. That exact same tank over here is about $40.00 and even cheaper online, and the sipping only costs like one dollar! Everything here is cheap, but VERY good quality. PS. The dollars I wrote for the tanks you can get if you need them are in AU dollars so it might be different. But I'm almost certain that it's the same. -Ana

+Crystal B Hi, the dividers where already in the tank. They are black so they cannot see each other. There are small opening for the water to circulate and they can see each other through there sometimes.

A few tips: you should never net a betta. It can damage their fins. Always cup them. The water flow is much too strong and can cause stress leading to illness. The flow needs to be turned down.
having said that, you have a gorgeous tank and bettas.

Aquascape that's a lie on the water flow , I had a 3.7 gallon set up with the same water exhaust port . That port is like a mouse wheel for my betta cause he likes to swim against the current . He does it so many times a day . He also sleeps on top of it cause it vibrates him to sleep . When I bought a bigger tank I notice him looking for it constantly . Bought a small pump that creates a current and him and the other fish constantly swim against the current . It's a mouse wheel for fish .

+Fando Matic Hi, it is easy to clean. I use a algae magnet to take off the algae and use a siphon to take out the water. The only difference from cleaning this tank from a regular tank is there are more glass walls to scrap.

Even in separated tanks it's not good that they see each other through the glass, it makes them agitated and tired as they will want to fight the other fish.
