so cute!! I'm gonna get one :D But I would get a small, gentle filter for the other side as well to keep both sides of the tank clean for both bettas, and put the heater ( if one is necessary ) in the middle so that heat can flow through both sides.

I know he does not use this tank anymore but it makes me sad to see this
1. To small to divide
2. They can see eachother and try to fight.
AND
3.Diseases in water can spread very easily. I know people keep compatible fish together but when they can't live together it's even worst because it is getting 2 fish sick that should not be in the same tank.

I would keep one Betta in the tank. If you ever decide to get a split tank again, I would suggest another dividor, since the one shown is see-through and stresses the fish out :)

+bradrobertsboy They need to be in 70 degrees or hotter water, but 75-80ish is preferred. If your water is not at least this hot than you would need a heater.

+itZz JDM I have had 2 bettas in here with the divider and both were healthy. Only having one betta in it is better though, and is great for them, a lot better than a small bowl!

I'm getting one of these tomorrow. I wanted a 5 gallon, however I feel like a 2.5 will be fine if he's by himself. I also got a Aqueon betta heater for the tank, but I'm worried it'll get too warm. What do you think? In the winter it's 60ish in here, and 70 - 76 in the summer.

I would still put a thermometer i/on the tank to be safe. My tank gets to around 80 without a heater in it in my apartment. Your welcome:)

+Sinnipop Lolligag Very nice:) I had a marina small heater in mine and it worked great. The small heaters are usually preset and should not heat up the tank more than that temp, but of course other factors may. I Imagine you should be fine, just keep an eye on the temp.

Sorry but i do not know. I really only have heaters in my bigger tanks, as my apartment is always hot enough to where I do not need a heater.

I want to put two bettas in with the divided but people keep saying its two small but I might put 2 females the only thing Is making me not want to do it is that they can see each other I don't want them to stress eachother out though some females can be friendly to one another I won't know their personality till, and the filter seemed to be too strong for my old betta that passed away so if I get a new one im gonna get a different filter

+CuteCavies I have three females in my tank, no divider, 2.5 gal mini bow. I love the tank, and the fish get along fine. They do fight a little, but it goes away with time. Its more of them figuring out who the dominant one is, but multiple females with no dividers (more than 3) is like a bachelorette group more or less.

Hey can I use my own filtration? And would I be able to get a solid divider that will fit for this tank? I feel the filter takes up too much space... I'm a beginner n want to find a better home for my 2 betta,and recommendations is welcome thank you.

you might be able to use a small in-tank filter, but then it would take up a bunch of room for the betta sadly. You might be able to build a solid divider, but then the filter would only work on one side and the water would not completely circulate.
I would recommend getting a 10 gallon tank and putting in a divider. You can either buy the divider or make one. They are usually pretty cheap to buy, but be warned, that not all companies dividers will fit every 10 gallon tank.

The tank is VERY quiet, and i believe it always was, but cant remember how it was at first. Some filters take a bit to quiet down, such as the aqua clear 70. I have no personal experience with the national geographic stuff, they look cool though. If they come with a tetra filter, i would go with the Aqueon, I personally dislike tetra filters, the ones I have in my ten gallon tank seem like the filter pads rip easily. As far as heaters, i personally don't use one, as before when i was in my college dorm, it was always very warm, in the upper 70's or hotter, even during the winter. Now i'm in a 3rd floor apartment, and it is still in the upper 70's in my fish tanks. I know Fluval makes a small heater for their Fluval edge tanks that should be good, I really like fluval as a brand.

Another tank I am considering is the National geographic half moon aqua oasis starter kit, but I like the dimensions on the Aqueon better I think. It goes more swimming room, even though they are both 2.5 gallons. I need to decide in the next few days so I can set a tank and heater up. I have a betta in a temporary 1/2 gallon tank. Can you recommend a heater? Thank you in advance and I am sorry for all the questions!

I personally really like the tank for bettas. I think Aqueon is a decent brand, better than Tetra, which is what alot of smaller tanks are made by/ come with, especially filter wise.

+Tegan Post Thanks for watching/commenting:) You should still do partial water changes, with a gravel syphon. You do not necessarily have to do 100% changes unless the tank gets very bad or fish keep dying on you.

Well maybe he was trying to kill himself. I figured out that my african dwarf frogs were biting and nipping at his fins because I bought new betta today and saw them do it to him which made me furious so I dumped my adfs in a creek so problem solved

Thanks for posting :) I have a 1.5 gal now and was thinking of upgrading if I decide I want another betta after my current one passes (he's three years old now). Just FYI I have heard a lot of bad things about this particular divider and it was helpful to see this video because it showed me why... The bettas can both see each other at all times which can be stressful (you can see them both flaring throughout the video) and the holes are big enough for one to take a bite out of the other one (noticed that a few times too). You already said the female crossed over once, has it happened again? I'm not going to divide a 2.5, but I am still curious.

I used to feed that tetra flake stuff - the white bits are shrimp. My betta used to love those. :) Stopped feeding as flakes are messy - bettas are likely to miss the little bits of 'em and they mess up your tank. I used to pick out the shrimp and just feed those for treats though! The omega one pellets are one of the best out there and I'd stick with them if I were you.

Also, the tetra water conditioner works fine but compared to others it is very watered down... if I remember right it was 2 drops per litre? I have top fin water conditioner now and that's two drops a gallon for a slightly larger bottle at a similar price. Anyways if that's your only tank it'll still last you a while - but just in case anybody else is reading!

Thanks for watching:) As someone else stated, in this video I actually have the divider in upside down, lol. I put it in correctly a week or two ago and it's alot better, have had no problems with either betta getting to the other side, but as you said, the hills in the divider are just big enough that the bettas can "bite" each other through em:( This tank is still good though, especially for just one betta, as the filter it comes with works great without having being to strong to where it messes with the betta. My favorite for brand is omega one or new life spectrum, both you all real ingredients, not just fish meal.
