My tips : Don't set up the temp too high ( higher than 86°F) here in my place (Indonesia) which is tropical climate and where the betta comes from the temp can get lower than 50°F but the betta still happily live in the river and the farming near my house never use the heater (sorry for my bad english) edit : my betta tank are around 65°F to 80°F That is the actual tropical temperature I never use heater

90g for a betta?? ik that big tanks are better than little tanks but 90g will stress out a betta IMO. 20g max for 1 betta or it will get stressed and lonely.

I know that this video is old ,but is it ok for the fish to have fake plants in the aquarium? because when i buy live plants they usually die :(
Eric Mezenberg

I use silk plants, if you didn't feed your plants with supplements that's probablynwhy they died.

Hey! depending on what type of fish you have, fake plants are absolutely fine! For Betta fish, usually silk plants are best because they're the softest:) you can also get silicone plants for betta fish, I wouldn't recommend plastic as it can damage their fins:) usually real plants are best for helping with nitrate levels, which means you don't need to do water changes as often, or change as much water as you would without live plants, although water changes are still very important as dirty water can lead to a variety of diseases, which aren't pleasant to deal with at all:( hope this helped!

your heater should also be above the water where it has the little waves saying minimum. also I heard the leaf hammock was bad becuase it has a metal wire inside

Alma Munoz all opinionated. Leaf hammocks are fine as long as they don't get broken. That's just the limit for the water, the wire is fine in the water.

Hey Natalie - I'm thinking of getting a betta fish and I'm wondering if this tank is in your bedroom? If so, how loud is the filter? I'm pretty fussy so I'm wondering if it's at a noise level that's still ok to sleep at night
Natalie Lauren
Natalie Lauren - 8 years ago
yes this tank is in my bedroom right next to my bed. if the filter works right, it's almost completely silent! sometimes it can act up but it's more like white noise than a loud filter and after a couple days it just goes away. hope this helped!

Matthew Ede
Matthew Ede - 8 years ago
Hi Natalie. I loved your tank so much that I went out and bought the same one. Except I got the black version. I put topfin gravel in it. I have the same plants that you bought and the same blue decoration. But I didn't put a beta in the tank. I put 3 guppies and a tetra. However I've been having issues with keeping the water completely clear. The first time my tank was noticeably foggy and I changed the water and it was fine. Then the next day after I got fish the tank got foggy again. So now I'm waiting for the fish to get completely comfortable with their surroundings before I do anything. Do you have any ideas?
Natalie Lauren
Natalie Lauren - 8 years ago
+Matthew Ede hmm, not sure why that's happening. i've only had betta fish so i couldn't come up with a good explanation with your fish. maybe it's the filter? did you rinse it out before putting it in? and also the gravel might have debris on it from packaging so give it a good rinse before putting it in your tank. does your water have water conditioner in it? just trying to think of different ways this could be happening, look up some tips on keeping water clean. maybe try a moss ball!

When ever you do a water change then if it's a sponge just rinse it in old aquarium water because of the good bacteria you've cycled it in I'd only change it every 3 months maybe or when it falls apart what ever comes first that's what I do and my tanks great

I really like this video, but I must tell you that your heater needs to be raised because it is way to far under the water and you should move your thermometer to the other side of your tank to make sure your whole tank is getting warm

Natalie Lauren
Natalie Lauren - 8 years ago

I had the exact same problem with my filter. There was a rip all the way down the middle of his fins:( What I did to fix it was cut holes in some sponges, and put them around the intake tube of the filter. Fixed the problem right up! The sponges I use are the really cheep ones that come in a 12 pack for like a dollar. The only problem is that they get dirty pretty quick, so you have to change it out pretty often :)
