before you breed your betta fish youll have to condition them can you use dried blood worms and infusoria to condition your bettas plz get back at me thank you
Jacob Petit
Jacob Petit - 12 years ago
@DKong dont forget fry eat the infusoria bacteria of the live plants as well.

that is normal if a male and female flare at one another it means they want to become potential mates
Kong Moua
Kong Moua - 12 years ago
you dont need a lid and using a tank to breed lowers the chances of fry survival unless you know exactly what you are doing
Kong Moua
Kong Moua - 12 years ago
yes they go from 10-15 gal heaters up to 30 gal+ heaters very cheap
Kong Moua
Kong Moua - 12 years ago
plants are optional only good for hiding fry and letting them rest on them
Kong Moua

heater is recommended for all breeders who are trying to breed in an area that has climates that are not a regular 80F or higher unless you can have a room support the water to be 80F higher

ryaniiszlol - 12 years ago
You don't really need heater it is optional to put it in your choice

TheGreatPickles
TheGreatPickles - 12 years ago
you CAN do smaller if you try the thailand method, but I strongly recommend 10 gallons so that you can use it for fill out without having to move your fry, which is stressful.

What Should be The Minimum Size Of The Tank For the Betta's To Breed??
TheGreatPickles
TheGreatPickles - 12 years ago
You could do actual spawning in a 5 gallon ,but then you'll have to get a bigger tank for fill out anyway, so may as well stick with the 10 from the beginning. Breeding bettas takes a TON of space, so, if you don't have it, you'll be disappointed. Females can stay together no problem. Males need to be separated from their sibs. they just have issues. Get yourself some gallon containers for them. Be prepared for fewer males than females, however. "fatness" plays no role. Many fry will be born.

I think you should make a video on conditioning the pair and then raising the fry :)

Hi, How did you make your sponge filter? I am going to attempt to breed my male and female betta in a few weeks. Does it matter that they have been together in my large community tank for a while? Going to use my old tank to breed them in. Also what plants would you recommend? Can you write back to my channel please? Your video was really helpful :)

@nakiaguppy23highway It is possible that your tank heater is to small for the size of your tank. It sounds like u got an auto one...am i right? If that is the case, the size of ur tank is probably the issue. I would suggest getting an adjustable heater, they work much better and it will solve your cold water problem.

@celeberty08 If you are looking for giant females as you put it, all the females I have that are large i got from walmart. NOW i want you to know, that walmart takes HORRIBLE care of their poor bettas. I have rescued 2 males and 2 females from there. 1 male had ick AND finrot and i fixed him. The other was healthy. IF you are able to quarantine them for 2 weeks and know the signs of a healthy fish when you buy, then perhaps if need be look at walmart. Otherwise i would check online or ask around

Do you raise in the 10 gallon? I do with small spawns but I usually breed them in a 5 gallon and transfer them to a big plastic tub (16.5 gallons). Also do you have any bettas in stock? I'm currently breeding HMPK dragons but I want to get into blacks and whites.

@TheGreatPickles what do you feed to condition the fishes? and for how long. I brought some Hiriki (spelling is likely wrong) frozen blood worm and I have the following questions: 1) How many bloodworms per day do I feed each Betta. 2) Do you feed them both during the time they are at the tank? 3) I also brought some floting plants just like yours in the video, do you let their long roots hangs?
