What would you say is the minimum size for 1 betta?, am thinking ones I get my room sorted I really should say IF I get my room sorted I want to get a row of Betta fish or a big tank split up,

Ever time I go to the shop they have a different male betta, they finally got a half-moon in and I just had to get him but then going back in a week later to get my Goldfish, they then had a Koi am like you evil people, I don't want to breed or anything just yet, I still don't understand it fully, so am leaving that till I know the ins and outs,

Quick question I brought a Betta fish a while back and it was perfectly fine but for some reason I have like these flakes, coconut shaving looking stuff in his rocks and on top of his tank and he doesn't seem to be bothered by it but I don't like it and I washed everything out twice now and it keeps coming back any ideas??

Very good tanks, I like the aquascape but I think the blue gravel with this glass balls is a little bit ugly and not the best choice... I prefer black or brown gravel or sand.

a little irrelevant from the video but a bit of an important question; if I were to make a sorority tank (20 gal long with 4-6 girls) and things didn’t go good and one was too aggressive or none of them got along at all, could I just use tank dividers or would they still try to fight each other through the holes? I feel like this was a dumb question but I need to be sure haha.

also, anybody know any reputable us breeders (preferably in the south but anywhere is fine)?

One was my breeding male and the other will do better in a smaller setup due to fin issues. I though, retirement tank sounded like a nice name to call it.

I have been out of the Hobby a while but I used to be active and a member of the IBC years ago. Back then we were able to put our Females together. I had Female only tanks and i would have multiple Females mixed in with Community tanks. We only had to separate the males. What happened? I am getting 3 females from ebay auctions. Waiting on them as I speak. I do plan to put them in my community tank together with guppies, corydoras and snails. It is a planted tank. I hope I can do this. I do not understand why all these you tube videos separate the Females. Gonna find out. Also we used to use Spaghnum Moss to treat our betta water and give it the proper PH and Acidity. Notice you Guys all doing Almond Leaves? Have you ever used Spaghnum Moss? We would get them in Breeding condition with Spaghnum Moss and good feeding and water changes. Also bringing the Temperature up a few degrees helps them to get ready for Breeding. Lastly, never heard of the females Flaring. The males Flare. Again, with respect these are things I notice from what we used to do years ago. I like your videos and appreciate your love of the Hobby. It is apparent. God Bless!

Its my second year as a member of the IBC but I havent had a chance to get involved as I dont have any local clubs near me.
A lot of people keep female sororities and I have done so as well..so I think its still popular...but last time I had one I had 2 females lip lock while fighting and then another was beat up (all three females ended up dying) so at this point its easier for me to just keep them all seperate.
Ive seen the killyfish breeders use spaghnum moss but I have not came across people using it for bettas yet. I'll look into it.

Sorry but old topic Need you help. I had spironucleus. Only in dark fish. List onefish months ago. Now another. Should I break tank down . its a split 15 gallon. only split once. One fish fine. I do meticulous care. Have extra bio cubes etc. Anyway, does anything work. Marty wont eat metronidazole food. I have safe salt level now. Any ideas.? I doubt I can cure it. Please reply.

What got mine to eat metronidazole was to bind it with bloodworms which were my fishs fav food. Once you get spironucleus it never really leaves your system but in small quantities is ok for bettas. I think if you are diligent with siphoning up the poop in the tank...it will help get it under control

I have a fish named “King Peacock |” For a while I didn’t know you had to wash off the decorations before putting them in. He survived being poisoned. Now when he got him from Petshmo, he had white tips on his scales. We thought it was just a design on his scales. Turned out he came with fin rot. He is still being treated and soon after he’s done healing will be transferred to a 10 gallon tank (divided so he’ll have 5 gallons) So Peacock survives being poisoned and fin rot! He’s truly amazing.

Raspberry is very handsome betta. I wish you can breed him, his babies will look so cute. I like your neat idea about retirement tanks. It is so sad bettas have such a short life spawn. I am setting up my second sorority tank and slowly collecting new female bettas for it (they are jarred for now until cycle is complete). Love all my new girls and at the same time feel sad realizing that they will live only 1-2 years. :((( Do you give your bettas fish vitamins. I want to to try add it to homemade food to increase their lifetime.

Not to butt in with my unsolicited opinion, but I feel gathering multiple opinions can be helpful, disregard if you like. 1-2 years is very much on the short end. Many bettas can easily live past that, the average I tend to see is 5-7 but I've had many even reach 10 and a few exceed that my oldest living to be 14. There are many factors that contribute to a fishes lifespan such as genetics, diet, stress, etc. Generally females in a sorority won't live nearly as long as females kept singularly, the added stress often leads to disease. This is why many keepers and breeders advise against them. Do as you will, just know that sorority life does take a toll on the fishes overall health and likely reduce it's longevity. Vitamins are always a good thing and I personally always supplement with both vitachem and selcon, both are available via Amazon. Good luck with your project!

i love your videos, the fish are hysterical that cichlid turning his head omg crack me up and the yellow male with his wife and kids he is stunning . Your an inspiration for me and my new fish hobby , I currently only have 4 small tanks with Bettas and 2 10 gallons one has goldfish and the other has a betta , snails and cory cats . I want to put together a 20 gallon or large with wild bettas that can live together or a female sorority i am not sure , and go live plants I am saving money . I love learning from you, sonnys tank is what i want - but i am new to live plants

You don't need to worry about the different colors of the cacatuoides interbreeding because they are the same fish. Even if you breed them true you will get a variety of color variants from the spawn. I think all the color variants at co-dominant or something
