Cool, so you know all about ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, etc.. So you are set. Just test your water at least once a week with a liquid test kit (not the paper strips, those aren't accurate). Then you will always know your water quality.

Courtney Collins It may not do as well at mechanical filtration. But, should still help with biological filtration. You should research the "nitrogen cycle in an aquarium". Nobody should own aquatic pets or fish without knowing this information. You should also have a liquid water test kit so you can keep track of your tanks water quality.

Try changing the food to a colour enhancing one I use probiotic tropical it costs £4 in the UK its the best one I've found and it got lots of nutrients and protein if not try getting a Betta mirror off amazon , eBay because they emprove colour when they think they have a competition

They get used to it and stop in a couple days. Nothing else I could do. This tank was cycled for 1 month before fish added. No other tank was setup & cycled to put him in. Nowhere else he could go. Plus reflections happen in basically all tanks. They get used to it fast.

Plastic best for small tanks. But as long as you have good lighting in tank then live could work. Just take a look at the store and see what you like. If only one or two plants go with something with leaves large enough for betta to rest on.

The beta I had named Rouge(RIP) got along great with a small bottom feeder. in his tank and he'd try and follow me around in the tank, saying "Hello~!" lol I miss Rogue but he lived a long life. Time to get a new beta~ <3

oh what a handsome fellow! I miss mine. he was blue purple and red with a bit of silver. and so friendly. I could put my hand in the water and he would sit in my hand! he died at the age of 6. that's a long time for a Betta from what I've read. and I know that its best to not have much water movement. but mine loved bubbles. so I got a small bubble bar. he loved when I'd turn it on for a while. he'd float in them. like a Betta hot tub. ☺

What are you doing for algae in that tank? I'm thinking an ottocinclus MAYBE two... Think a Chinese Algae Eater would be far too aggressive for it... Bettas have this habit of swimming up real close to stationary fish like with their eyeball literally a milimeter away and then giving them a friendly curious nip which sends them scurrying about, but you got a lot of hiding spots for an otto during the day...

Also, when is there going to be a new merino wool vid?

As for algae, I simply do water changes of about 25% a couple times a month, and I only use the tank light for a few hours a day when home and in the room that the fish tank is in. Algae shouldn't be much of a problem in this tank. I may add one or two smaller sized snails. A Chinese algae eater wouldn't work in this tank because they can grow up to 11inches. I'll make a new video if/when I add more to this tank.

As for merino wool, I have been wearing some new items and I had some good winter items as well. I may try to do another video on merino wool soon.

+Jemima Whitty Cool, but, there are female bettas too. They aren't 'only boys'. People usually only keep the males because the males have more vibrant colors and larger fins.

I have my blood red rose tail betta named fire lord Ozai in a 5 gallon setup with a 10 gallon filter at the lowest flow rate with a mini heater and fake plants. I've read online that they can live harmoniously with otocinclus catfish that will clean the tank but the tank cleans itself and I'd hate for it to starve to death like one did in my fancy goldfish tank. I just want some dimension in the tank. I guess mystery snails will have to do

Heres a tip for your betta: Once in a while, feed him a boiled pea (no skin). This helps him with his fiber and helps prevent swim bladder disease (If he cant excrete food easily).

Well, betta males can be a problem in aquariums with other fish. Sometimes they will be ok in a large tank with other 'community' fish that are calm fish. But, best for community tanks is female bettas, not males, as they tend to do better and not fight.

I had a double tailed betta and it was really pretty
Still have no idea how it died. I was cleaning the tank with the fish in a separate tank, and I turn around and it's motionless with its gills out :(

+Basic-bloke Freddy You should never empty a fishtank. Only should do about 25% water changes. Good bacteria grows in the tank which keeps the water 'clean' from ammonia & nitrite. Fully emptying and refilling the tank will kill all the good bacteria and ammonia will spike causing fish to die fast.

+Earthling1984 it's been running for like a month because I set the tank up on my birthday in early January and never had the time to go get fish. I have 10 watt heater from my old tank but the fish were moved into a bigger tank but thanks :)

Also if you want a good low cost drone look into the Syma x8c or that x5w because there really good drones. PS I love your channel

+Geminijets 92 Best to have tank setup properly before adding any fish! I would suggest waiting for heater first. Also, have you let your tank run for 2 weeks with water in it? Need to let the tank cycle before adding any fish. I'd recommend getting the heater, then having the tank run the filter and all, as if it had fish in it, for 2 weeks. Then add the betta. I had this tank running close to a month before adding my fish.

+Michael Roberts males are not suitable with other males because they will fight. females can be mixed with other female betters because they are generally very peaceful. a male and female are usually kept together if they are ready to breed, but if the male isn't ready or the pair won't be use for breeding purposes and just as a community tank, the male will still attack. so in general, just don't keep the male with any other betas.

+Danny Nguyen another note, never trust a worker at a store, especially Walmart! Don't trust workers at pet stores either! Do your own research as most of them just don't know anything.

+Danny Nguyen Yeah, the worker is a moron. Do some research online. You need a heater, a proper tank with a filter, low water movement, and lots of plants (fake or real). At least a 2gallon tank, but larger is better.
