that betta sure was lucky that the shark was small. I have a bunch of rainbow sharks and a couple redtail sharks and they are all pretty big with my largest redtail being 6.5 inches in a 125 gallon. i had a betta with them when they lived in a little 40 gallon like 5 years ago and one of the sharks grabbed the betta by the tail and dragged him around. next day the betta had half his tail gone and then they finished him off a week later right when i was getting another tank ready for him

Timing is everything! This betta held his own in the tank for 2-3 years. Then he died of old age and the new betta I got couldn't hold his own so I had to set-up a new tank as well for him. It was nice while it lasted!

Erik Hovland yea, i had my betta in the same tank as my shark, and they got along fine. I ended up moving my betta from that tank, and making a sorority there.... Which I was pretty nervous about since my red tail shark was larger than they were, since they were all young. But it turned out fine...

Maybe i just got really lucky tho... Or maybe my sharks not that aggressive, but he does constantly chase around the mollies

Yea, I got lucky. They were at the same age/size range when I introduced them so they left each other alone. The shark grew bigger but was used to the betta at that point.

thats pretty weird my dad use to have a red tailed shark and i put a betta in with it next day i woke up the shark killed him

These two learned to get along. That Betta lived happily in my tank for 2 years. But when he died and I tried to introduce another Betta, the sharks and loaches were larger and the Betta was more timid so he had to be put in a separate tank. It was really nice having the 1st Betta live with everyone though :)

This was just the first few days. The Betta was able to assert dominance and everyone left him alone even when the redtail shark and clown loaches grew bigger. They all lived happily together. But when this betta died and I tried putting a new betta in he wasn't able to hold his own and I had to move him into a separate tank.
