Hello! Ive been wanting to aquascape like this with two different substrates but how would you clean it without both mixing up in the process? Or do the plants help with the filtering process. Thanks :)

Kayla Brooks - 8 years ago

Wow that was fast! Thanks :) I'm going to create a betta sorority with lots of live plants but didn't know if it was possible to have two different substrates when cleaning. Your tank looks beautiful btw!

Kayla Brooks live plants help do that :)

I was inspired to do my tank like yours! How do I keep the gravel and sand from mixing when I clean the tank?

Terry M - 8 years ago

I'd use only the white sand, skipping the black. Then all you have to do is have a dedicated scoop, (like a little cat litter scoop?) and occasionally just scoop the gravel back to the sides.

It is a little to small for a beta more like a 5-10 gallon aquarium but otherwise great build

Poisson Sauvage - 9 years ago

Mayhem Mantis it's 5 gallons. 2.5 is the minimum :)

Perfect.

Tara - 9 years ago

Is a 3.7 gallon ok for my betta?

Mackenzie B - 8 years ago

MintChocolate the minimum is 2.5, 5 gallons is "ideal" but a betta fish will thrive in a 2.5.

c Woods - 8 years ago

Tara yes

MintChocolate - 9 years ago

Tara // not really. 5 gallons would be better. That's generally the recommended minimum. Bettas actually like a lot of space to swim and explore and too small of a tank can make for a very under-stimulated fish.
