My betta just ate an entire snail just minutes after putting it in the tank. So much for being a good tank-mate lol u have been warned

When I first dropped 4 ramshorn snails in the tank, my male Betta bumped & harassed them. Even shaking one of them out of its shell & devouring him that very first day. Then the snails disappeared them for a couple weeks. Began to assume they all met the same fate as Betta chow. Then just today, I saw one of them crawling on a Java fern, while another clinging to the bottom of a rock decoration. The Betta swam by them periodically, but no longer bothers them. Really seems to have mellowed out & is now okay with sharing the tank.

+Salem Ross be careful, most likely your betta will eat them when given the chance. Some betta are chill, others like ours not so much lol i know how you feel though, i tried to distract my betta from the snail but it didnt work. He even picked the entire snail up in its mouth twice and swam around until it came out, or at least a piece. I think it took him about 12 hours to completely empty the shell. I cleaned the tank today and the shell was totally empty. I may just start feeding him snails once a week now that i know he likes to eat them! :/ wild kingdom

I got two Apple snails yesterday at petsmart and put them in my 10 gallon tank with my betta and three other fish. My betta keeps biting the snails and it's annoying me because I don't have another tank.

i am considering a snail for each of our 2 betta tanks
they have "tanks" that are large vases which hold a little over 3gal, they have pebbles, live plants, pirate ships, timed led lights and a small filter each, but seem a bit bored ...one has easily learned tricks ans comes on command, the other seema a bit more agressive. did these two ever get used to eachother? i wouldn't want them to get to stressed out ....what kind of snail would you recommend?

Malaysian trumpet snail is what I have they do great with the betta the betta only once put the snail in its mouth then spit it out

Your betta is being very gentle with the snail

My bettas like the snails in their tank , but sometimes get a kick out of poking them
None of the snails have ever been hurt . Just annoyed and resort to hiding in their shell for a minute . Until the bettas get the hyper out of their system. Then it is back to munch munch munch
