How to breed betta fish and set up their breeding tank. Today we start the process of breeding our betta fish. The breeding tank is a 10 gallon filled up half way. We have our heater set at 82f and a sponge filter running on very low. The parents are a Galaxy Koi black, red and blue male and a Yellow and black marble female both are Plakat bettas. They are first time parents and at this point are doing really well. We conditioned the female before adding her into the tank. She was fed several times a day with high protein foods to help her produce eggs. You don’t need to but it just makes the male build his nest faster than he usually would have and it’s just easier for breeding.
I may need to look at breeding at some point

My question is what should I do for her? Should I take the eggs out since I don't have a male to fertilize them? Should I let her keep them? I was going to do a water change today but now I'm afraid to disturb her.

I'm only used to the rather rambunctious, bordering on violent way my goldfish spawn, which also surprised me for such normally peaceful fish, lol.
A quick question, do you offer food to the male whilst he tends the nest?

One of my guys likes to push the girl all around the tank with his nose when she's passed out, I swear he's a savage. (He's also the one who's eaten his eggs twice. Ugh.)
