I do not recommend having two male betta fish in the same tank unless you are going to use a divider. Even so, if the two males get around each other it will not end well. Males will fight to the point of death or they will torture each other until one submits and then they will tease and pick on the one that submitted. I do recommend having one male and more than one female because there are times that the male will reject a female and if they do they are likely going to hurt or kill the female they rejected. So, it is a good move to have more than one female in the tank with a male because the male will not turn on the other females if he has one he bonds with.
