I am having a betta crisis! my halfmoon's tail is all torn up..literally half of it is gone! and now he just hides away and only comes out for food. I think it's because he's having trouble swimming in his tank with his tail all ripped up. I took out the decorations I had put in there for Christmas..the rip didn't occur until after I had put those decorations in there...and have put his original plants and decor back. I am just wondering what I should do to help him grow his beautiful tail back! I was thinking of putting him in a 1 gallon bowl with some aquarium salt. what do you think?

Aquarium salt would be the best bet for him to grow his fin back. He could have bitten it, or scraped it, or it could have been a bad case of fin rot (all of which may contribute to his lethargy). Aquarium salt can help with them growing back, so its worth a shot. I hope your betta gets better soon.

Excited to see the new tank setup! Have you ever thought about doing live plants at all?

Not in this tank, at least for a long time. I've used live plants before in my smaller tanks, though. I won't say I'll never use them in this tank, but I'll stick to the plastic ones for now- I also like the fun, colourful look of them. I will definitely be filming the setup! :)

Thanks! Yeah, it's quite unfortunate ornaments cost so much, because you have to buy them, even if they aren't that detailed like the ship and plane. I certainly can film the setup! :)

If you have a petco near you then you should buy the plants there because they are super cheap

Unfortunately, I don't! I'm from Canada, and PetCo is only in the US :) We do carry some cheaper plants at PetSmart, but they're much smaller or more 'plain'. The prettier plants, or better quality plants, are usually around $15 to $25 CAD.

+Horsez_R_Ma_Lyf Thanks! I tried using live plants before, and only 2 survived. I'm not sure if my tank's lights aren't bright enough, or they couldn't get enough sun, but I couldn't get them to flourish. I may try them again later, but for now, I like the bright, colourful plants in my tank that don't die :)
