Hi there. I just received your divider and I must say it's of great quality. Now I'm trying to figure out how to heat the tank up since my house is always cold. Would 1 50w heater be enough for the 10g tank with divider?

It really depends on the betta. If the betta is really aggressive the one without holes would be better. They will still be able to see each other a little but not as much.

I have been watching all your videos about betta fish and loving them!! I now understand the cycling process and weekly water changes but I had a few questions. I was wondering how often can I do a full clean. Like take out all the gravel and plants to clean them? Also is it ok to switch up the set up and move stuff around in the tank every once in a while or is it to stressful for the fish? I just want to know as much as possible before getting my betta. Thanks so much!!

Thanks! You don't do a full clean on a fish tank. You do however have to do weekly water changes and maintain the filter every 2-4 weeks depending on stocking levels in the tank. Yes you can change up the tank from time to time. The betta will love it.

we have a new sorority tank of Bettas everything is going well! I had a question when doing a water replacement can you use the garden hose water and bring it up to temp with the heater?
is there a difference between tap and hose water?

You can use a hose the only issue is the difference in water temperature. It might be too much of a difference for the fish.

Quick question, you mentioned a male and female shouldn't be together (in a divided tank of course) because of the hormones. However, you think if I got maybe two, NO HOLES dividers and divided my 20 long, they'd still be able to sense one another? Or it simply isn't no way around it. Thanks!

Having the no holes would lessen it as the filtration is reduced. I think in a tank that big it may be ok but you'd only know by keeping a close eye on your female and see if she shows any sigs of producing eggs or stress.

Hello! needed you expert advise on a matter.. i have set a planted tank where ADA soil was used throughout.. i have planted the tank.. the ammonia levels were high for a couple of weeks and now it is at zero .. the tank is fully cycled... i just wanted to know..having only ADA substrate okay for a betta ? as PH levels are down to 6.5

it went below 5.5 after my last reading .. i think i will remove the ADA soil completely and replace it with more of sand and a much smaller area of ADA for the plants

Hi so I have a giant koi male (I just got him 2 days ago) and a really small female. (I have had her for 6 months now but I suppose she's 1yr)
Question 1: how can I help her become more healthy I'm currently giving her some betta flakes while I give the rest of her tank normal flakes.
Question 2: so I have my male in a 2 gallon round cookie jar and it was just for now and he's way too big for it and I heard it can distort their vision. I was going to get a 10 gal and split it in half so they can both be happier but I don't want them to get stressed or want to mate. What can I do? (I do have a 20 gal and a 29 and a 10 tall that used to be salt water and I can't really get all the algae off because it's acrylic)

Thanks for watching! I would add frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp to their diet. Why not divided your 20 gallon. We have done this and it worked well. We used a quarter of the tank for one of our bettas and the rest was a community tank.

thanks so much Sheila :) such a nice video as always~❤️so hmm.. even the dividers without holes.. a male n female might still sense the hormones? I took your advice and definitely have reframed from purchasing a male to divide with my female Rowena but looking to maybe start a sorority at some point in the future. Just curious if a male n female would still sense each other's hormones through the divider without holes? very interesting little fish though, I'll say! I always thought Betta were pretty of course..but gosh.. my little Rowena is smart.. social.. lovely little thing!

Yes, they still would know. Even with a no holes divider the water is still shared. The divider doesn't totally make to separate tanks as it's not sealed to the glass.

You should make a divided tank where both sides are COMPLETELY different, like different coloured sand, different types of plants etc. I think that would be really cool. I love all your videos but mostly the tank set up ones. Thanks, keep doing what you're doing.

I notice you use a sponge filter in each partition. Is this necessary because there isn't enough water flow between the two?

Yes, the dividers are made with the betta fish in mind, not water flow. The flow can be easily altered with a sponge filter on one side and an air stone on the other.

Hi, my betta , Bagel, got ripped fins and all the plants in his tank are soft, and the only other fish he lives with are two amano shrimp. a few hours ago he had no ripped fins and I don't know what could be ripping them. He also doesn't have fin rot. All the research I have done on amano shrimp says nothing about them nipping fins. Does anyone know what could be ripping them?

Will a 5.5 divider work in only a 5 gallon tank?

Yes, the divider will fit the tank. That's the one we have. It's actually a 5.5 gallon but for some reason it's sold a as 5 gallon.

Amazing video loved it. But there is one thing I noticed on your veltail. It's like he has Popeye. I know what Popeye looks like when I see it. I've had a betta die from it. But the bettas eyes are extremely large in size.

Sadly he didn't make it. We've no idea what was wrong with him and treated with a broad range of medication. The fins were healing nicely. He was a fin biter unfortunately which made the fins look that way.
