Sadly Dropsy is usually not curable. Keep her water as clean as possible and add almond leaves to her tank.

As a new new beginner, I love anubias! Mine are already growing new leaves and it is so pretty and green, and you can stick it anywhere. The anacharis OTOH didn't fare so well and was a pain to clean up.

Great very informative video! Note on ECO-COMPLETE!!
I use Eco-Complete in all of my planted tanks ( Low-Tech - Low Light ). From the info I have gathered about it, it isn't a nutritional substrate but it has a very high CEC value. Which means it sucks the nutrients from the water column and holds them in for plant roots. So you are supposed to dose with fertilizer/root tabs. Which I use both. It is best used in Low-Tech - Low Light tanks. Hope this helps! <3

One question that I don’t believe was answered: how do you feed a plant that you tie down to something like a decoration?
OXI
OXI - 6 years ago
Rebecca Williams I would only use root tabs in sand or gravel substrate because those substrates provide no nutrients. I would not use root tabs for plants that you tie to decorations.
Rebecca Williams
Rebecca Williams - 6 years ago
Does that include root tabs or can I only use them if the plant is rooted into the substrate?
Lifewithpets
Lifewithpets - 6 years ago
As the others have stated the plants take the nutrients from the water column. If the tank is not producing enough you would have to dose fertilizer.

Yes, rhizome plants (plants that do not get planted in substrate) usually suck up excess nutrients from the water column. Some nutrients include potassium, iron, nitrogen, and Co2

This video is so helpful! I’m setting up my first 10 gallon tank and was looking for plants to use instead of silk fake plants. Your videos are fantastic!
