No, the bigger ones are tetras whereas the smaller ones are danios.

Only female glofish are sold. Go to their website, I believe under FAQ and it states that they only sell the females. Probably simply to make sure that they are in control of the breeding and distribution.

If I had a dime for everytime someone muttered the line "bettas shouldn't have other fish....." I would have enough to buy MORE tankmates for my Betta.

My Betta I've had for 4 months with tetras, snails, dwarf frogs, pleco and they are all still kicking and happy together. It depends on your Betta.

+Ajplayer1212 articwolf Even the females can be aggressive. Also I would not suggest putting a betta fish with "other fish of any kind", there are fin nippers out there that would shred a betta's fragile fins.. like tiger barbs.
It's like I said I just wouldn't recommend it, doesn't mean there's some cases where it does work but I just wouldn't risk the health of the betta or of the other fish by putting them together. Just my preference.

It's not that betta fish cant be in a tank with other fish, just not other bettas or fish that look like other betta fish.. i.e colorful flowing fish such as guppies.

The gene that they put in the glo fish makes them blind and they die early! They live horrible lives

Electra V I think you're getting confuse with what kind of fish your talking about the one your talking about is glass fish were dyed or painted and that caused serious health problems glofish were genetically modify they took DNA form jellyfish or coral to make them glow and it didn't hurt them or make them blind so the baby's wouldn't be deform or die quickly unfortunately for glassfish that's what was happening do to the paint being toxic and cause the babies to have deformities

+Flare Stone , I tried putting a Betta in with my glo danios.. the betta did not really bother them so much but the poor danios were stressed and stayed at the top of the tank in a corner. I took the betta out and within a few hours they were back to normal. wish I could of kept the betta in with them, but it did work out.

Betta fish are are usually very compatible with fish as long as they do not have very bright colors, long fins, or are also aggressive. But then again, it all has to do with their personality. My betta fish lives in a 10 gallon, heavily planted, with two corydoras (its a type of algae eater) and they actually swim and eat together. For optimal results though, put your other fish in before you put your betta, as that way the betta will not see it as their territory and wont be as aggressive (if not at all) to the other fish

Thanks everyone! I'm using a marineland tank, its cheaper than the glofish tank. I also used the glofish plastic plants to enhance to glow effect. My betta and other community fish are still together in the same tank for months now and they are all happy. Bettas are only aggressive to their own kind so since he was the onlybetta in my tank, he didnt mind the other fish

Hannah Michel a glofish tank, filter, bubbler, decor and fish cost me about 200 to start up and I kept adding fish and changing the decor so it can get expensive just depends on how big and extravagant you go. hope this helps :-)

Is this a glofish brand tank or did you install a light to another tank? We are looking for a fish tank, but are stuck between the glo fish tank and a marine land tank that had a night light option.

I don't think keeping the betta in with the other fish is the best idea because I have experienced with different type's of fish over the year's and betta's are semi-aggresive and will kill your other fish and sometimes betta's can be territorial and aren't very compatible with most fish hopefully this will help you.
