Except that the kubotai are always out and about and it's Dick who's always buried in plants...
I think the Marimo balls are too much. I also think the betta may enjoy hiding where you put the subwassertang

anyways tail types:
I'm a huge fan of the Delta but with the bigger fin types like the delta the super delta and the rosetails they have a bit more difficulty swimming, can often get frustrated or tired and are very prone to fin biting. they require more stimulation and entertainment.
For shorter fin types like an HMPK they need more space for swimming as they need more exercise with their smaller fins though they need less resting places. this is also true with females.
with Crowntails it can be harder to spot problems in their environment with this tail type because of the way their fins are shaped so you have to monitor them a little more.
With Veil Tails they are far more common, they are often more mass produced and because of this will have more genetic problems.
Comb tails are very rare but they are a miss breed that people sometimes search for, they have serious genetic issues because they are not an actual tail type and come from breeding two together that should not have been bred.
with females keep in mind that they can become egg bound sometimes (or so they say, to some degree there is skepticism around whether this is a real problem or if the real problem is something else entirely) that aside crowntail females and other certain tail types tend to be more eggy and thicker girls.
Regardless of tail type, where you get your betta is a huge factor, from most big box stores and from some LFS they get them from mass breeders, if this is the case they are going to be more problematic genetically and will be more disease prone, cancer prone and more prone to internal tumours.

Plakats are short finned and high energy and are adorable but if you want attitude then i would go with a crown tail
crowns have striking fins and are a lot of fun to watch, they also seem to have very little trouble with their large fins from my own experience which is AMAZING!
there are pros and cons to each type but crowns and plakats seem to have the least cons from my own experience.

I have to add, and maybe I'm just being nitpicky, but that tank seems kinda barren for a betta. There's plenty in the middle, sure, but even with the moss balls there's not a lot on the sides. Maybe you could put some smaller plants there, like some kind of grass-type plant or small crypts? I personally love putting crypts and anubias in my betta tanks. Elodea too, but you might find that would take away from your center.
The koi betta is constantly changing colors and the koi bettas are always real cool to look at and watch as they change colors!
I also tend to lean to he ones that look like they need help the most, like my current one: Misha. A Half Moon betta that's a very nice red, blue, hints of purple...and a permanently mad face. Because of their natural pout, he I guess, was born with slightly more "eyelids" then the average betta, so he looks just upset all day.
But when I found him, I saw this fitly cup and this little mad face looking at me from the bottom shelf. He's recovered a lot since then but if your not looking for anything specific, it'll surprise you how much theses betta's in bad shape can become so beautiful and just make you smile!
But if not then get a Koi Betta...they're neat <3
Anyways he's got tons of colors like red blue and green fins and a black blue and silver body. I love him and he's my favorite beta so far. I love a good koi beta as well lol
If not a wild betta, the healthiest bettas are veiltails and plakats! The rest have various genetic issues because of how they were bred, unfortunately :( But I quite like the look of veiltails and especially plakats--all the benefits of the betta without any of the horrific genetic issues.
Also 5 gl is not enough I find, 10 gl is absolutely fine, so 6 gl is the very minimum.
I want a Dumbo Betta y I think it will look awesome on your tank too!!!
I was leaning towards a half moon, possibly rose tail. They’re so pretty.... but koi come in some amazing colors too.
Have him in a 10 gallon community tank with 7 celestial pearl danios and 4 ghost shrimp and is doing pretty good.

With that in mind, I'd recommend getting a female veiltail/crowntail/plakat betta. One that also flared at your finger when you go near the container or that looks active. You may want to rescue a sick looking one, but it's not worth it. Don't get a baby betta either since they will live shorter lifespans.
Betta fish with long fins are prone to fatigue from the fins slowing them down with their weight. Dumbo fish aren't ideal either because of their long front fins. And I would advise against a marble/dragon/koi since they are prone to tumors. Koi bettas are just marbled bettas with certain colors. And paradise, orchid, or bumblebee bettas aren't an actual type, just a color variation.
