I have the same tank and Hawaiian house/hideaway!! lol I recommend using play sand, the rocks r not good for the Betta's, u can get the sand frm home depot or Lowe's, and also Walmart, home depot is cheaper tho, 5lb bag for $4, jus clean the sand until it rinses clean the add it to ur tank

You NEED a filter and heater, it's NOT a matter of opinion. Please actually meet the requirements of a fish before you get the fish. If you cannot afford enough things to meet the requirements you will simply but sadly give your fish to someone that does/can meet a bettas requirements. I only have two bettas, only because I can only afford to have heating actual lighting and filtration for two bettas right now. So please if you want to let your fish live a long happy life, get an actual tank not a plastic container, get a filter and heater.

I am glad you upgraded her, but seriously... if your going to have bettas get a normal fish aquarium not some critter keeper. They make aquariums for a reason... Terrible decor and she needs a filter and a heater! If you can't afford a good aquarium, a heater, filter, and live plants don't get a betta!!!! I take great care of my fish. They are in 5.5 gallons, have 50 watt heaters, (watt doesn't matter just look at the temperature it stays at) filters, live plants, drift wood, and black sand.

WiredTacoGaming doesn't need a heater if u have a light/lamp on over top of it. lol mines lasted 5yrs and us doin awesome!!! healthy as can b, but I use playground sand (washed til it rinses clean) not rocks, they're painted and can harm Betta's and other fish/critters.

None of this is a matter of opinion, it's a matter of knowing the facts and taking proper care of your fish so they have a good quality of life.

There is nothing wrong with a critter keeper in my opinion, it holds water and does the job. I see no problem with my decor. If your concern is torn fins, i have asked for silk plants for christmas and choose my plastic plants wisely. A filter is optional and is more of something that has to do with personal opinion. I do cleanings very often. I have 2 perfectly suitable filters for this tank but don't use them because i choose not to. I as well take great care of my fish, or at least compared to most. 2/4 of my tanks are heated... but i have raised two of my bettas from fry and they have never acted any different with a heater, so i believe they dont need one. I do not feed my bettas without a heater as often because there metabolisms slow down in colder temperatures, like goldfish. I dont have live plants because i dont find them necissary, but i am looking into them for the future. I do use sand though. As you can tell i have clearly done my research and if you check older videos it is very obvoius i have improved, and continue to improve. Just because my fish keeping isn't to your standards, it doesn't mean it isn't up to mine or others. Btw, I'm getting a 10 gallon during the dollar per gallon sale if that makes you feel any better. just to let u know 2.5 is the limit if u can offered but if can't then 1 I went with five and it depends on the beta my BFFs betta was in a 5 gal and wasn't happy and is super happy in a one it's strange but true
