Been here since the very start Kasia! Can't wait to see your half-moon spawn since we tend to see a lot more halfmoon plakat breedings on youtube, i personally have a plakat male black dragon myself and im thinking about getting another betta in a different tank of course and i wanna try half-moons but im just worried about their fins being too large! i did wanna try breeding but i don't have people to sell them to since theres plenty of fish in Hong Kong where i am! we all import from Thailand!

Oh man. Velvet is tough.. did you add salt to your tank? Personally, I have never had it before BUT its known to kill entire betta spawns. I would remove the male and female..treat them separately and sterilize the breeding tank.

I don't think its true to say you can't overdose on tannins, as tannins themselves are very acidic, and it will change the PH of the aquarium.

A monimum of 3 months old BUT its recommended to breed between 6-12 months

I would recommend keeping it in a smaller bare tank (with filter and heater) and feeding betta pellets soaked with garlic http://amzn.to/2ErN4z7 this will help the fish "smell" the food and locate it
