In my opinion water changes are not essential to a healthy balanced aquarium. I've had more than 20 tanks and never done a water change in my life! Good filter and plenty of plants, does the trick! Make a video on your thoughts please!

Sure a heavily planted, lightly stocked tank does not need WC's, but would require top offs.

Hi Michael, would you recommend Mollies as a breeding fish for profit project? Any colours that sell better than others? How long does it take to get to sellable size?

IT takes longer than guppies, maybe 3-4 months depending on what and how much you feed them and the temp in the tanks.
As far as selling, look at your LFS's and see what they have, see what sells.

I haven't kept guppies, so I can't say there. Every molly I've ever bought from a LFS or pet store has had internal parasites. From various web forums, it seems to be a fairly common thing. I don't know if that extends to swords, since I've only barely started keeping them. I just treat for internal parasites as a rule for mollies I get at the store, now. (Which hasn't been for quite awhile, since I have a billion mollies.) I think what a lot of people call "molly wasting disease" is internal parasites.

Thanks for the additional information! Why do you think they are "pretty likely" to have internal parasites? Do think it is more likely than Guppies or Swords?

More molly food info: They are more vegetarian than other livebearers. Best treats for them are zucchini/squash/nori/peas. Especially if you happen to have balloons. You will not have algae problems if you have/breed mollies. Fry favorites are frozen daphnia and crushed spirulina flakes.

Mollies are pretty likely to have internal parasite ~~-camalanus worms-~~ always treat for internal parasites.

Brood size can be anywhere from 5-50+. Female mollies are always pregnant. Wisteria is wonderful for molly fry hiding.

I have a ton of platinum/white mollies from fry and I've never had any white parents. I don't know what it's a recessive trait in. Maybe the dalmations?
