I set this tank up with a budget of £35. I paid £15 for the tank that came with heater and powerhead then i paid £7.99 for the sponge. Gravel and plants cost me just under £10

One small comment. You should put your powerhead in the bottom of the tank and use a pice of pipe or hose to the top of the hmf filter. That way you will never experience dry runs... If you make a very tiny hole in the top of this outlet pipe/hose and point the hole in the direction of your heater, you will avoid destroying the heater when you make water changes.
