ok. i had heard somewhere that fishless cycling was better so that is what i have always done. Your bettas seem very happy and healthy.

I do. There are two types of cycles- fishless cycling, and fish-in cycling. In fishless cycles, you use bacteria supplements, fish food, and it takes much longer to cycle. On fish-in cycles, you use bacteria supplements and the fish's natural excretions to cycle the tank. It is much quicker than the fishless cycling. Both types of cycling is safe and efficient when done correctly. I have done fish-in cycles with all my tanks.

Thank you! The betta log is by ZooMed, and it's just ceramic and ~4.5 inches long. The bubbles aren't a part of it, I had an extra air stone and put it inside the log under its air-vent type thing so the bubbles would come up and out! :)

+BettaCare106 As long as he doesn't ever seem to struggle with the current, it's perfectly safe :) The only time it is ever an issue is if the filter is pulling him in with the current and he struggles to swim away. From your video, he didn't seem to be struggling with the filter at all, and the kind of filter you have is generally the safest kind. Your betta should have no problems while hiding behind his filter :)

I have the same problem. With the parents and when I go to the store specifically not to get a betta, I usually get one. I had to resist last time lol. Congrats! He looks really cool.

+BetterBetta I chose his name because his fins are red, white, and blue and his body is cream and lavender and looks kinda marbled. I keep him in a 20 gallon tank with some Glowlight tetras and two Nerite snails.
Anyway I love your channel and all your fish are gorgeous!

+Alondra Torres Thank you! As for the bowl itself, the most I usually do is clean it very thoroughly twice (like a very, very intense water change). That has worked for me so far. As for the ornaments in it, rocks and driftwood can be boiled and plastic ornaments can be scrubbed down with a sponge (also like an intense water change). Hope this helps, and I'm sorry to hear about your sick betta :(

+Jason Wilhelm Very jealous. Mine (I have 4 of them now) all cost $23 each. I'm assuming you are American, I've heard other people say they got theirs for $7.99. I also see some people pay $10 for a 10 gallon, and my 3 gallon was $40 haha. Canadians have to pay a little bit more for aquarium supplies it seems!

+CLAW prime Thanks! I unfortunately don't have much knowledge on bubble filters because I have never used them! I'd assume it wouldn't be much different than using an air stone though, which is as simple as attaching the tubing and pieces together and then plugging it in :)
