I have had a few sick female betta tanks. I've had the females with community tanks as well as female betta-only tanks. I had a really sweet 29 gallon tank with black gravel, nice driftwood, tons of java fern and swords, and 10 female bettas. No aggression, and tons of color. Having a tank full of female bettas lets you keep it a species-only tank while also having tons of different color combos.

I have Dwarf Gourami and I have a Betta. NOT in the same tank. I didn't know they're from the same line but as soon as you said it it made perfect sense! Gourami are quiet and a tad shy and love to hang out at the top of the tank with my floating plants. The color on the grourami is wonderful, its a powder blue and shimmers with shots of red in the light. The males of course are much prettier than the females and don't like another male too close. I have 2 males and they have decided to stay on either side of the tank and leave one another alone. They don't like loud noise or abrupt movement near their tank. They tend to bolt and hide in the thickest part of plants when that happens where as the other fish in the tank come out ready to check out what's going on.

I've kept Bettas, Dwarf Gouramis and a Blue Gourami. They're beautiful fish, but I've given up on them, since I can't seem to keep them alive for long (the Blue Gourami lived the longest).

If I already have a betta sorority (5 Females bettas) along with 3 Corys in a tank ( <21.6 liters, which is approximately 5.7 U.S. gallons>. I have a filter that has a much higher turnover rate then my tank size, there are live plants and i do water changes regularly), can i get other fishes (other than Corys, Snails or Plecos) to place together with my bettas?

gouramis are really cool. i got one a few weeks ago and she gets along well with my zebra danios. i also have platys in there though and she really seems to have it out for them. she does this thing where she goes and sucks up some air from the top, and sort of spits a rapid stream of bubbles at them, like a dragon. its really cool but the platys dont like it very much

For me gold fish isn't a beginner fish .... first of all when you say beginner is they dont actually do a good maintenance sched and way so they're water must be somewhat greenish brown and a goldfish is a hog when it eat gonna see their poops everywhere

in the wild there are no bettas like you get in the store. you can't compare wild Betta to domesticated..... the Bettas you buy are inbred to the point of being inhumane... same with fancy goldfish.

Hey Dustin. I just recently bought some plants from your website on Monday and can't wait till they get here, but I was wondering when could they possibly arrive. I was hoping that they would get here before the 19th since my family is trowing a party and I definitely don't want my aquarium to look empty.

hey Dustin quick question, i have a weird idea and was wondering if you could yea or nea it for me, i need a lil wisdom, I have a pretty good sized pond, and i left my bigger kio and goldfish in it to live out the winter in PA, fingers crossed, but i set up a 50 gallon bucket/tub in my green house for three smaller goldies to take some strain off the DIY filter i built for my pond which is pretty shit, i was wondering about hooking up a heated air source for the tub, my idea was to put an air pump in a bucket with hand warmers and a heat mat attached and then surround it with insulation, then have pretty much hot air pumping into the tub when the temp drops to freezing temps, was wondering if this idea could technically work or am i just wasting time, please and thank you! your a legend my dude!

Dustin's Fish Tanks I commonly keep goromi and they don't have gills they r actually found in mud streams naturaly but as you know fish should not normally be kept in the conditions that they r found in the wild with that being said they r a hardy fish water levels: ph can be higher to lower great for a community tank I would at least keep 2 but they can be with other fish

Russ Polk well, I'm not sure what to say here man- pink flamingos always sell at $20, "greens are 15 - pinks are 20 is what I always say." You bought two pinks. That's $40 man- same price they will be in Cali next week. I was also handing out free plants like they were on fire. Not sure what else I can do for ya man... perhaps you should have said something in person on the spot so I could have done something for ya instead of a week later in a YT comment.

Dustin's Fish Tanks i honestly like all your videos but i saw u on Saturday in schaumburg and bought the 2 flamingo crypts off of u .the price was really high i thought u said 14 each for 2 not 40 for 2..but its over and done i have 7 fish tanks and could have been a good repeat customer. i understand everone has to make money .i will still support your channel but i was expecting better from u

Here's some more Betta info if anyone needs.
You CAN mix many females together, just make sure to keep to the gallon/per fish ratios. It's not as taboo as with males. Also, if you were to mix a male and female, you're pretty much certain to have babies, but soon the male will eat the babies, and eventually the female. Not in all cases, but it happens.
Rule of thumb, like Dustin says, 1 per tank, male or female. But if you want several Betta's in one tank, make sure to go ALL females, and keep on them.
Betta's have very different attitudes. I have four tanks set up currently, each with a Betta. They all act differently. One is very shy. One is always flared up and angry. One of them, the rescue, is not doubt the most friendly, and of course my wife's Betta is the most chilled fish of them all. He just rest on his plants most of the day.
I myself am not a fish guy...I'm a plant guy. But a swimming fish does complete the look for me.
My only problem in the future..I'm gonna set up a 55-60gal. And I'm still thinking Betta. So one lucky Betta is prob gonna have a HUUUGE home to play in. Reason for the one, I still prefer the males, the females are just not pretty, sorry fems. :)

Hehe, they do get picky. I currently have 4, each having their own 10 gallon, soon, somebody is gonna have a 55-60gal to play in! lol. But they sure do have their own personalities don't they. They all seem to very social with people, but very different in their own way. I have always been a plant guy, but Betta are my go-to fish. They're awesome.

I also need to add that one of my Betta's won't eat the pellets. I guess some just won't. So I have to use the regular Flake food, with added blood worms/etc.
But the one fish I helped get back into shape, yeah I used the posted up above food.
Cyberhawkzz
Cyberhawkzz - 5 years ago
Same place Wal-Mart. It's the smaller pellets.
This one, https://www.walmart.com/ip/Tetra-Betta-Floating-Mini-Pellets-0.15-oz/51494064
I use most times.
But sometimes I have to get, https://www.walmart.com/ip/Hikari-Tropical-Baby-Pellet-Betta-Bio-Gold/10313616
if they are out of my first choice.
I'm not sure why the price of that 2nd one is so high, I just bought some yesterday and it was around $2.50, not $7.
Nature's Finest
Nature's Finest - 5 years ago

Cyberhawkzz
Cyberhawkzz - 5 years ago
Yeah, that's all I used to help him. I feed him those betta pellets. Do regular water changes, twice a week.
Mine looked real bad when he first got him, but seemingly got much better after a few weeks.
How long have you been giving him the Stress Coat?
Nature's Finest
Nature's Finest - 5 years ago
I use stress coat each water change once a weak. Did it just work for you?
Cyberhawkzz
Cyberhawkzz - 5 years ago
You can get this stuff at Wal-Mart, it's pretty cheap like $4 I think for one bottle. It's called Stress Coat.
We "rescued" I guess you can say a Betta from Wally World. And I noticed it had some fin rot, and little specs, just overall didn't look good at all. Seem healthy, but looked bad. Used that Stress Coat stuff, with every water change...which I do two a week for a 10gallon. And within a month, he looked fantastic again.
It's been 6 months and still looks great. I still add a bit for all my fish like once a month just for the LoLs.
But yeah, try that stuff out.
