Marina Betta Kit Review & Hanging Instructions

Update. Both these tanks now have the Marina tank specific heater. Maybe I was squeezing too hard? I don't know, but I cracked it with my left thumb next time I wrestled it onto the hanging stand....lol I suggest only holding it from the bottom, and not being so rough with it(wife's words). I used aquarium grade silicone to fix it and it has been fine since:)

Jenny H Learn the difference between surviving and thriving. You can't add a heater, filter or do water changes in a tank that small meaning the fish will die from water parameters. You obviously know nothing about this topic so don't try to argue against what is actually right.

then you should have taken really great care of your betta!but if you would have taken the same care but in a lager aquarium it might have lived a little longer coz 3.5 years is not the max life span of a betta,4 is average life span but there are several instances where bettas live even for 7+ years!

all you stupid idiots yelling about this guy and his tank are just low life person. I had a betta and my bowl was just 1 gallon. she was damn happy and her fins were so Gorgeous. even the vet was amazed to see a healthy betta. she lived 3.5 years before she died of aging. you guys are so delusional.

+eRa Vise have you been to a rice paddy? I lives in Asia and if I want a beta I could just scoop them up. Anyways drains of fresh water is connected to the rice paddy. How do you think the water get to the rice paddy? Lol. And yes they don't swim well, their fin will not help them to speed of from predators.
Ra'uf Azman
Ra'uf Azman - 7 years ago
In the wild these fish live in small drains, rice paddies and small streams, they will fight to the death if they saw another male or even female... And they will get eaten if they live in big open water. Btw the purpose of having aquarium and fish at home is basically hobby and decoration. So I'm sure his fishes is alright ...

WAY too small for anything exept small invertibrates or as a medication/quarantene tank. inacceptable to keep fish in!
they would look with cool with artemia (sea monkeys), fairy shrimps, water flea, or the like, though, and neither of those will suffer in a tiny aquarium.

he said it's 3 liters, that's a little over 3 quarts. :/
the minimum size should be about 4 gallons for a single male and quite heavily planted. i keep 3 calm betta females in 8 gallons (30l) and i think one more would be fine still.

2.5 gallons is the minimum size due to the fish being about 2 inches, this tank is double this
I believe the size requirements are 1.25 gallons to 1 inch of fish

I have four fish and one of them was in a .5 gallon tank as temporary tank until my other fish got his new tank which is a community tank. And we noticed that the fish got really stressed out when I moved him into his new 1 gallon tank now he has settled in now but what I am say is that the fish should not be kept in a small tank unless the fish gets stressed out like mine then I would recommend a 1 gallon tank only if your fish gets stressed out so please upgrade.

The question is how much captive bred (i.e all) bettas have somehow adapted to living in tiny cubicles. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that they have a little, but I doubt are they are particularly happy like that. Even top well known aquarium stores think nothing of keeping their bettas in tiny cubicles. Yet around 30% of fish in these cubicles are dead, and another 30% looking not far off.

Hi just wanted to ask a question on the heaters. I just got this tank and have been researching about the heaters. Does it ever overheat the water? I'm a little afraid to boil my betta! Thanks for any tips!
Eternal Skyy Costumes
Eternal Skyy Costumes - 10 years ago
Bigger is ALWAYS better! My fish is far more active, healthy, happy in 10 gallons rather than 5 gallons. Without a heater he'd be laying on the bottom and swimming slowly in a depressed state. Makes a HUGE difference having a heater since water is 10 degrees colder than the room temperature, and room temperature fluctuates a huge amount daily which affects the fish's health and lifespan. They can live 5-7 yrs in a big tank not 2-3 yrs they say they live (in glass bowls)

Mine is pretty much rare/custom. You can calculate the gallons in your tank by googling up, "gallons fish tank calculator", from 'fishfriend's result, I get 3.46 gallon(US). I owned a tank that was 3.6 gallons, it does work, of course. Have to replace the water (or all of it, if I recall correctly) every 3-4 days. I only have to replace 30% of the water in my 10 gallon every week.

I DO NOT recommend this tank for ANY fish. It does NOT provide enough space for the Ish to swim! Just because its natural habitat is small puddles doesn't mean they like to live in those conditions. I you have a heart and common sense you would know thy this is NOT a suitable tank for any fish

Actually I put a female betta into the 2L and she is very happy where she is, with weekly water changes. The heater is nice for them cause they do come from a warmer climate but it isnt necessary. My male bettas were constantly aggressive in the 2L or 3L tanks, although that hasn't changed since their move into the fluval tank. If your betta is happy then that is all that matters:) Keep up the great work:)

My room is always warm too, but my heater is set for 72 degrees and it always turns on and off to get that right temperature at all times. It's a huge improvement from not having one. They live in 120 gallons in the wild and 2.5-5 gallons is the minimal they require because the more water will help the temperature from fluctuating too much and more water leaves to a happy betta :)
