Bettas don't do well in tanks with filters that have a strong flow. Not sure why but they do better and prefer very slow water. I think it is too tiring for them.

Yay guppies! Such beautiful and gentle little fish. I also have a male betta, he's crimson red. I'm so excited to finally own one, they have great character but recently found he has ich from the pet shop so i'm currently treating him which is a pain :/

Try getting Indian Amond leaves, I read those are super healthy for betta since they are from environments with wood and dead leaves in the water. They provide all kinds of major and trace nutrients along with immunity support. That's probably why some betta illnesses are so common. It makes sense to replicate the betta's natural environment as much as possible for healthier betta.

I had my betta in a 5 gal with divider like yours but they could still see each other all day and it stressed them out so I have to split them up. I don't think bettas should see each other too often. It takes years off their life.

I used clove oil to anesthetize my fish. Thee dosage is tricky because to much can kill your fish so that has been deterring me from making tutorials on it.

it's very likely that they will fight. I've pulled it off once but it was a lot of luck. it's best to keep males and females seperate

Bruh, male and female Bettas can't live together for long periods of time, they'll only get together when they want to mate and even then sometimes the two might fight to the death

I'd recommend no more than a 25%-50% water change each week.

A 2.5 gallon is too small. Betta come from areas where they live in very long streams that go for miles and miles. Maybe you should get a 25 gallon tank

+Jazmine ThePuppy Yes that is true and I already know this infomation, although what i really meant was that large changes are not so good as they create alot of stress on the fish for a few reasons. The water chemistry will be different enough to stress the fish, which obviously isn't good. When changing such a large amout of water the temperature will change also stressing the fish and swimming in 10% water is also stressful. Doing the water change over several days is better, so really you aren't doing doing 90% changes if they are spread out over several days a week. Although I think a 90% change of water per week is overkill, unless your tank is really overstocked. As you say everyone has their own methods. When i said cycle I didn't mean the nitrogen cycle, I meant fast changes, i just didn't word it very well.

That is incorrect. There is little to no bacteria free floating in the water; it's only present in the filters and in lower numbers on substrate, decorations, and glass. Doing a large water change is absolutely harmless and is actually good and helps keep the water parameters more even, so the nitrates don't build up to 20 PPM or higher and drop to 0. Instead it never goes much above 10 PPM. it's better for your fishs' health and growth to do more water changes. Everyone has different methods of doing things but saying that it will disrupt the nitrogen cycle is incorrect.

Solid Gold on YouTube aims for 90% water changes every 5 days. I personally aim for 90% total (meaning I do smaller water changes every few days) a week.

+Jazmine ThePuppy The advice for the betta is good, although 90% a week for goldfish? Doing more than 60% a week isnt good because it can mess with the cycle of the fishtank. I've had my 2 goldfish for 13 years and i only ever do 30% every 2/3 weeks.

You should change the water at least once a week. My goldfish tank gets a total of 90% water changed every week but for a betta you only need to change 25-50% a week. You should aim for closer to 25% water changes twice a week as 2.5 gallons is a pretty small tank and toxins build up faster :)

You can get plants that spread/breed very quickly like Jungle Van.. all you need is on or two clumps of plant and then they start to spread all over your tank. Duckweed also spreads quite quickly.

I give some of my fish away to friends and my betta helps by eating a few as well. My tiger barbs in another tank also eat some of the fry.

The one in the 20 gallon is the "Demon Betta", the red one is Drogon, the white one that died was Targaryen. I don't have a name for the blue one thats next to the red on in the 5 gal though.

It might be ok as long as the bubbles are very small and don't move the water around a lot. You can get a valve for the air pump that adjusts the air flow and start it off on low and increase it from there. Take it slow and observe how your betta reacts.

I would recommend the dumbo ear ones. They don't have as long of tails but their fins on the side are long and beautiful. Definitely what you are looking for on the uniqueness side
