I have a hospital tank for my betta and three little plants and it's 1/2 a gl and I'm getting a three compartment tank for my fish so is that good or bad bc I don't really have a lot of money

1/2 a gallon is a bit small. You can find a 2.5 gallon glass tank for only 15$ :)

In your opinion, do you think a 5 gallon tank is enough for two bettas with a divider? Or should I stick to a larger tank?

Hmmmm we'll it is up to you. Although i would always recomend a larger tank I know it can be hard. Especially with a budget. I would maby recomend two 2.5 gallons (1 betta in each) or a 10 gallon divided into two. But if you didn't buy your bettas yet and your get a 10 gallon u could have a female betta sorority
