i think im gna do 5 gallon tanks like yours in my 5.5 gallon. i'll probably first put a sorority of female bettas, 5, then 4 cory catfish and a snail with some shrimp and 4 or 5 white cloud minnows. i know this is way overstocked but i've been in this fishkeeping hobby for years now, and i have the time to clean these tanks a few times a week because of them being overstocked. i think i should do 3 entire tank changes every week (50% 6 times a week) just to keep it clean but not so clean the beneficial bacteria dies off. what do you think?

all my bettas are super aggressive. am i able to do a sorority of 5 in the 5 gallon without the other fish? this is my first time doing a sorority but i dont have room for a 10 gallon at the moment. in a year or two they will be upgraded to a 20 but it's currently housing my hermit crabs (ik they're not a great pet, but i got them almost 10 years ago and didnt know) and in captivity that's usually how long they live from what i know. do u think having them as babies and them growing together would be better? i mean, as long as there is no fighting or anything like that of course.

Too many fish is a small tank is not good. Try the white clouds with one male Betta, that worked for me.

Who said bettas cant live in a community tank hehe.
Mine too has mates a corry cats otto cats and nerite snail.
But my betta thinks he is the king of the tank, everything inside the tank belongs to him.

Hi! Just to clarify, you have one betta fish, three Gold White Clouds, 2 Pygmy Cories and an assassin snail in a 5 gallon tank and a betta fish, 3 Pristella Tetras, 2 Pygmy Cory Cats and an assassin snail in the other 5 gallon?

I just bought a fluval spec v for my betta. What speed setting do you keep the pump set at? I've looked all over you tube and there seem to be multiple answers saying either "the currant is to fast even on the lowest setting" so they recommend modifying the pump tube or output nozzle. Then there are some people that say they keep it on medium or high and the betta doesn't seem to stress about it. To many different answers lol

I keep mine on low and I have put my magnet that cleans the algae in front of it to slow down the flow, also I have put a piece of plastic inside the flow nozzle to slow it down. Once my tank has been running for a while, the flow has slowed down form the build up inside the sponge which is much better for the betta. Also plants in front of the flow help.

I do a water change every month and change the filters when dirty. I also clean the glass with a algae scraper.

Could you please tell me, what plants are in your tank. I have a new 10 Gallon betta tank, with a 4 in common Pleco and a vanilla lobster. (Don't worry it will be upgraded to a 30 gallon in a few months). I only have on plant in my tank as of right now, and a nice large log of drift wood. I feed my fish once every other day, to reduce bio waste. And a daily waste clean with a turkey baster (lol). But my tank is really lacking the beautiful green, that my fish and I both crave. I had purchased these CRAP plants from PetSmart that fell apart and made my tank DISGUSTING. (Btw I do not EVER recomend Buying from PetSmart, all my fish from there have died!)

how did you get your water so crystal clear. For some reason, my betta tank is always cloudy. Its been over 6 months and water is still cloudy. a few times, I did 90% water changes to see if that gets rid of the problem, and now Ive been doing 20 - 30% water changes and still cloudy! I have a bio filter, and it is a more than enough filter, and still just stays cloudy. I changed the filter and the carbon and still remains cloudy! As for the conditioner, I use tetra betta safe. I just can not figure out this problem with the cloudy water

Any recommendations?

I dont know the kind but it could be algae or some bacterial plume. My bowl was always cloudy. I never had that problem before in my other tanks. Then someone suggested that it could be algae. I used those algae remover chemicals and it is gone :)

I would suggest you bring a water sample to your local fish store to get analyzed. Not sure why it is cloudy, but that is not normal. I never had cloudy water before, sometimes if you put too much food in the tank and it does not get ate it makes the water cloudy.

The fish in with my betta are white clouds. The secret to having other fish in with a Betta is to put the other fish in first and the Betta last. Also make sure the tank is big enough for all the fish. If the Betta is in the tank first and you add fish, the Betta might attack the new fish.

OMG! Where on this earth did you find such beautiful Bettas! Do they get along with the other fish? And is maintenance difficult? Have you ever had to change the water or scrub the tank clean or does your filter do the job properly?

I feed my cories pellets that sink to the bottom of the tank. The pellets are meant for bottom dwellers.

Hi, I always put the smaller fish in before the Betta, otherwise the Betta will chase or kill the other fish, I have never had a problem.

How did you introduce betta to the tank, before or after the other occupants? I heard that if you put betta in the tank before other fish, he will consider it as his territory and will attack new occupants..just trying to find best way.

Hi, it looks like gravel but it is more natural like soil, the filter came with the tank, it is built into the tank and the filters can be taken out from the top of the tank. The filters need to be rinsed once a week and changed every 6 months.

Hi, thanks for the nice comment, the plant is called Bacopa Australils. This plant can grow in many aquarium conditions, it looks great when floating on top of the surface.
