-_- obviously I do know what I am talking about my betta is perfectly happy in his one gallon of water with no filter and no heater, as long as you keep the water fresh the ammonia stays down and they are fine.

no they don't come from muddy puddles do some research before u open u mouth they r from rice paddies witch the have about 40cm deep but very long area there is normally 1 to 2 meters between each Betta in the wild and they have a lot of room plus I've worked in pet shops and around 75% of the bettas that go in there die within 2 weeks and the only ones that survive r the ones people buy

ya wild bettas are used to living in muddy puddles, Therefore you should shut your mouth when you dont know anything about the things you're saying, have you ever been in a pet store? they keep them in tiny like 3inch diameter bowls and theyre perfectly fine 1 gallon for a beta is like a tremendous amount of water

1 gallon is WAY to small and most pet store places (Petsmart) hire teenagers that dont know 2 shits about the animals they are caring for.

First of all you motherfuckers shut your damn mouth's. Because first of all, he is only a kid. I just bought a 1 gallon fish tank yesterday, and it cost only $10.00. That's all I had in my wallet. When I first got her she was inside a 4 or 3 liter tank! She is still a baby probably 10 or 9 months old. She is very small, & when I put her in that 1 gallon she looked so happy. It's better then my 4 liter tank that was built for baby's. You don't know what this kid is going through.

In a large planted tank, a male and a female can get along, but it's still the exception rather than the rule. I've heard of a male tracking down and harrassing a female in 105 gallons, too.

I'm sorry but some of your info is wrong. Male and female Betta splendens cannot safely be put together in any tank, even 100+ gallons, without first conducting proper conditioning. This is not true of wild betta species that the domestic B. splendens has been bred from, but it is certainly true of these fish because they were selectively bred for aggression for centuries.

If you get a female guppy, they won't make babies, and betta and guppies are quite friendly. Just make sure to watch just in case, all fish are different.

Betta fish really don't get "scared" by other fish, if anything they act a bit more aggressive so it's ok to put them with other smaller fish like neon tetras or zebra danios

try getting him a 2.5 or bigger tank so he can live longer + a 1 gallon tank is to crowded for him and he will die sooner than in a bigger tank because he doesn't have the room to swim and be happy
