I love my peacock gudgeons! The colors are amazing on them. I'm surprised that more people don't keep them.
It is really easy to breed them. I had mine for two days and then all my males were in their hide with the eggs. I have some of their fry growing out in a separate tank. I leave the eggs with the dad until 5-7 days after they are laid because the eggs will get fungus without the dad fanning them. I will then keep them near the bubbler so they are aired until they hatch in a day or less. Gudgeon fry take a long time to grow.

mind me asking how you cycled your tank? or did you just add media from another tank? It was obviously a fish less cycle! I'm having problems at the moment cycling my tank with fish food... its been a week and there are no traceable amounts of ammonia! I cant find anywhere to buy pure ammonia (only the cloudy ammonia).

I'm not sure if you have any males. Females tend to be more common in the hobby (especially at box stores). Males have a slight nuchal hump.

Peacock gudgeons look great. Have bred them many times. For me removing the eggs is easiest, and I usually tumble them to keep them from fungusing. Fry are REALLY tiny but will eat live baby brine. I have found they prefer the terra cotta watering stakes over PVC. Tank looks awesome!

Side note: It was my understanding that the Peacock Gudgeon's will likely try to predate on the Chili Rasboras being that they [the Chili's] are a micro-fish. We'd all be interested to see how the mortality rate sits in a month or two. Please keeps us updated on the nano tank. Especially since nano tanks are our specialty.

Also worth mentioning is that the Peacock's are known jumpers, so prepare for a casualty or two with a rimless tank. We look forward to the progress reports over time.

Peacock Gudgeons are some of my favorite fish species! So active, Beautiful and Epic! They are not to difficult to breed either! I managed to breed them a few years ago... It was an accident in my case! Problem is they bred but i never realized it so the male died because the stopped eating for to long while looking after the eggs. Good luck!

There’s at least one female in there with a yellow belly ready to breed! Your gudgeons look pretty young still but they’ve got plenty of room to grow still and mostly they don’t need much swimming space. I find they do jump but it will be when you are doing maintenance or something else happens to upset them. The only thing I’d worry about is sparring males crashing into the dragon stone, they can do some pretty violent circling and chasing when they are fired up.

Great choice with the Peacock Gudgeons, I've kept them a couple of times and really love them, 7 might be a little much in that tank but they stay small so you could get away with it... one warning if that's ok, they are jumpers! I lost 2 to the carpet in one night. You might want to consider a lid, but if you don't want to spoil that rimless look then a water level drop would do the trick. good luck, thanks for all the great vids!.

You should consider a terracotta tube instead of PVC if you want to bread the peacock gudgeon. The color will blend in better with your dragonstone. I just subscribed to your channel. Check mine out when you have a chance.

Ur slow. All his fish are community fish and salinity* is in salt water. You would know this because it’s the salt concentration in the water. In fresh water is in the .5 and below. Because it’s fresh water. Stop explaining stuff you don’t know anything about.
