that bug bite food looks awesome and reasonable. makes totally sense to use other protein sources for fish food than fish meal since those resources affect ecosystems a lot more then those captive bred soldier flys. unfortunately i haven't found that food label in germany yet...

Aponogeton Undulatas, hmmm. I'm thinking about adding one more type of plant to my 30g community tank. This might be a contender. Do you think it might do ok with a Stingray in a 16" high tank? Corydoras Matae brings back memories. I had a couple of those as a kid and only knew them as skunk catfish. Until now I haven't seen them anywhere since I got back into the hobby recently.

Can you come up with a Christmas bundle everything you need but the tank for $50 which has a small group of Fish like Guppies, a beta, optional snails some plants. Also $100 version that has everything you need except the tank.

I know shipping things is a problem because it's so cold so anyone living in areas that a heat pack won't be enough for overnight shipping can either wait or pay an extra $25.

Am I the only person not impressed by the fluval bug bites? I tried a sampler pack from fluval and my fish couldn't care less. I had those blue/yellow rainbows, irian red rainbows, hq rasboras, some "red" swordtails, dojos, and some tetras that look like those bleeding heart ones, but don't have the bleeding hearts. All were excited to try them but could have cared less. They all rather eat the flakes over the bug bites, heck they get more happy when I cut up red worms. Anyone else have fish not thrilled about bug bites?

I think it depends on the fish and which bug bites etc. Rainbows mostly want to feed mid water. My favorite one to feed out is the pleco formula.

Do you worry about where they come from when you put them in tanks or how they would get along? South American or African or Asian? Does that matter when it comes to fish other than cichlids?

Runny nose tetras. lol. For the record, the community bugbites are one of two non-frozen foods my bettas will eat. Double plus, my ADFs will eat them. (Though I still prefer frozen food for them.) Seriously, folks, if you haven't tried Bugbites, do this is great deal to try them with!

An awesome idea, and yeah I would recommend different types of moss glued on to a piece of driftwood too and some kinds of neocaridina shrimp as lights would definitely look gorgeous!

Hornwort for the tree, it sheds enough. Alternatively, Java or Christmas moss glued to driftwood in a Christmas tree shape. Then glue marbles or glass gems on for ornaments. Do a rock base for the tree and glue on lego or other non-toxic plastic toys -- just make sure there's no stickers or metal hinges. Figure out sizing for the tree you've made.
