Love your channel! Just wanted to say that the best fish store I have ever been to is the wet spot tropical fish store and they have so many fish in good sized tanks and the bettas are all Moved into a 1 gallon tank! Even though that is not the best size for them but it's definitely better than the little cups!

Great video and I'm glad he is in a 2.5 gallon but really it is best to have them in a five gallon because u can cycle the aquarium and I'm not really sure u can cycle a 2.5 gallon u should try to do more read watch in that and the nitrogen cycle and if ur betta is dosile enough u can have ghost shrimp and mystery snails with it or if your betta is very docile and u are an experience fish keeper with a back up plan u can try putting a betta with other fish like Mandy in a community tank

Anyway so I was looking at him from a far distants and the next thing I see is him flaring at me. And I'm like what did I do wrong. He's in the right tank right tempeture I fed him this morning. So the next thing is to not look at him in the eyes.

You didn't do anything wrong. That happened to my betta as well, flaring for no reason, and it's just their way of adjusting to their new environment. They might feel threatened or not be familiar with the tank, so they will flare to show power. It stops after they get used to their environment and know that they aren't threatened. For me, he became comfortable after a day. They will flare if they see their reflection also, so check in his tank for anywhere that he could see his reflection. Flaring isn't harmful to the betta, it's a natural behavior, but too much flaring can stress them out. Make sure everything is right with the tank as well.

1 bettas originate from Thailand from the large rice paddie fields so the minimum tank size should be 5 gallons for him. 2 always use silk plants not cheap plastic as plastic can rip fins and gills. 3 bettas need a heater in there tank to keep the water at 78-80 Celsius warm.4 you have to cycle your tank for at least 48 hours usually 7 days with a better water conditioner PRIME BY SEA CHEM is the best to use. 5 you should have a variety of foods of wet,dry,frozen,live for them and only feed them 2-3 pellets in the morning and night. Most people's bettas only last up to a year or two I've had my bettas last up till 5 years because I make sure to give them the best in life and don't just treat them as an excessory to my room

Plastic plants are no good you want to get real plants it will do your tank very good and you gravel as toxin in it I have bettas over 400 when you set your tank up you should of set it up with no fish in it as you will have nitrate nitrite ammonia spike it should been running at least two weeks before you put fish in then when you put your fish in you need to put in Hagen cycle in and test your water with API water test kit you need to test for nitrate nitrite ammonia and ph your ammonia nitrate nitrite should be at 0 ppm your ph should be 6.8 to 7.4 and dh 3-10 and your temperature should be at 76f any lower and he will get sluggish I love these fish and I am just helping you out I am not having a go you want to get this book from Amazon the guide to owning Siamese fighting fish by gene wolfsheimer hope this helps you and good luck with keeping your fighting fish by the way nice fish

One thing pet stores should warn you about but never do is that curved sides in aquariums causes echos and messed up reflections of the betta causing him to nip at his own tail or it can just cause stress.

I'm sure if you Google search "Why fish shouldn't be kept in tanks with round sides," you can find tons of information, especially seeing as keeping fish in tanks with rounded sides is banned in some parts of the world.

Not only does it mess with their reflections like how my comment stated, but it causes an echo in the tank every time a sound is made.

not a bad little tank by any means, especially compared to the puny jars some betta have to endure! but still on the small side. 2,5 gallons should be about the absolute minimum, to keep anything but small invertibrates or fry, and 5-8 gallons make a "good" betta tank. i would, at least, dump the plastic plants for the most part, and plant real ones. (for example eloda, temple plant, maybe a small anubias, and a moss ball. all will do fine without extra care, exept maybe occasional trimming)
there is a lot of potential, for making your tank nicer more practicable, and more interresting: betta naturally live between water plants, so they love a lot of vegetation to explore and hide in, and look for naturally growing food. a few little snails will help to keep the tank clean, and are nice to look at. plus fast growing plants consume exess nutrients, aka fish whaste, that would otherwise fertilize algae. everybody wins ;) even such tiny tanks can become interresting and stable ecosystems.

though, dont dare implying i dont know my stuff! i currently maintain 2 community aquariums, and 6 single species tanks, not even counting temporaty containers for fry, life food breeding, phytoplankton farming, and my branchiopoda.
betta in small tanks usually die of ammonia or nitrite poisoning, due to a lack of proper filtration and water changes.

Make sure to rinse your hands before you do this. My betta fish lets me touch him because I grew tons of trust with him first of all I let him "accept me" by coming out from behind his little tree into the open where I can touch him then I slowly put my finger in the tank and slowly and carefully touch him with my finger tips. Do not use soap when you rinse your hands. Also I gained a lot of trust with him

a good way to sex your Betta fish is to check for an egg spot. It literally looks like a little white egg stuck under their abdomen just in front of the anal fin. If you fish has one then its a girly :P

Um, Hi there! I was just scrolling to this topic of videos. When I spot this, I want to give you a big SUCCESS for actually buying the correct needs. I believe this is the video where you mention "Your fish died from fungi" honestly the best thing to do in that situation is to buy it WHEN YOU NOTICE it, and make sure to change the water! In my opinion, I usually go for the most unhealthy/ugly bettas when I get a fish. This way, they will not be left to die because nobody wants them :3.

Me too :) I bought a juvenile female blue crown tail that was very bloated from over feeding. Im on a fasting regime with her and so far she is doing really well :) youd have thought shops would want their stock to be at maximum health! lol
