Thank you. Females need to be in groups of 5 minimum otherwise they're likely to kill each other. 20 gallons is a good size for 5-6 females and and few snails.

Thank you. We never removed anything. We lightly gravel vacuumed the stratum to remove excess waste. When you have live plants you don't want to vacuum too much as the plants use the waste as fertilizer.

No, we kept some water back and also used the same filter. Most of the beneficial bacteria lives in the filter so the media was already cycled.

We use several different lights on our tanks. The one on this tank is an Aqueon LED light. Although it did the job on this tank there are cheaper options out there. We now use Deckey LED lights on several tanks and are very happy with them. If you have only one amazon sword then one root tab every 1-3 months should be ok. The java moss will most likely feed of the nutrients in the water.

Minimum 5 females would be better, and Cory cats would be great, I have 4 Corys in with mine and they don't bother them at all. They possibly will attack the shrimp they usually don't do well with them.

Yes, as long as the tank is 20 gallons or more and is heavily planted, they will usually love peacefully together but there's never any guarantees.

I wouldn't recommend shrimp, general speaking bettas will attack them. Yes, bubblers are fine, in fact my girls love swimming in the bubbles. An aquaclear 50 may be a little too strong. Bettas over time don't usually do well with strong currents. It causes stress and in turn weakens them. Yes, the younger the betta the better, so they would be perfect. Just be sure to buy them all at once.

you really inspired me to do a sorority. i currently have a 20 tall and it does need a new light/plants. i plan to do a similar set up too with sand/stone wall. i already had flourite which is good haha.

some more questions if you don't mind...
do bettas have a history of eating dwarf shrimp? if so i will stick with just nerites.

do bettas tolerate bubblers? i do use one and there is only one setting so i can't lower the output..

i also use an aquaclear 50 and it does create a bit of a current even on the lowest setting.

and the females at my local pet store are TINY like.. really tiny.
im not sure the age but would they be able to establish a hierarchy at that size? they are about 1 to 1.5
inches from what i can tell

Yes, a 20 gallon is a great size. The main factor is plants. Be sure it's heavily planted and several plants go all the way to the top of the water line. Because the tank is a tall not long I'd recommend fish that would stay nearer the bottom, like Cory's, you ideally need a group of 4 or more. Bettas are middle to top swimmers so you don't want too many fish competing for that space. The number of fish will depend on how many females you add. If you do 5-6 females than I wouldn't add any more than 3-4 other fish that are middle to top swimmers. So fish such as platys and guppies. Most tetras would work but ideally you'd need a group of 4-6 for them to be happy.

I use an Aqueon LED light. I've just bought some Deckey LED lights for my other tanks and I prefer them over the aqueon and they're much cheaper! The tank is a 20 gallon long. Yes we used a sponge filter.

You can't put males together but females can often live peacefully if the tank is large enough (20 gallons or more) and it is very heavily planted.

Thank you. Yes, they are female bettas. They can live peacefully together as long as they're in groups of 5 or more and have a heavily planted good sized tank (20gallons or more). They have to be introduced carefully into the tank and there are never any guarantees they will get along. We have several videos on how we introduced them on our channel. We do plan on doing a video on the maintenance of this tank soon.

We have 6 female bettas, 3 platys and 3 Cory's. We have all male platys but that was just preference because I didn't want there to be chasing of females platys and babies which might have unsettled the bettas. The Cory's I've not idea what they are.

I absolutely LOVE this! Especially the little "stream" that you made with the bridge. I noticed that corner filter that you are using. I have those too! Is that the only filter you use in the tank? What media do you use to replace the stock pad once it gets too worn?

Thank you. I use the corner filter as secondary filtration. I get most of my fish supplies from Amazon. I get sponges square pads and cut them to shape and I also use polyfil. I get that from Michaels. The main filter is an Aqueon internal quietflow.

Bettas do prefer shallow tanks over deep ones, however if it was a choice of more space over height I'd go with more space. So many sororities fail because they're done in a tank that's too small. I suggest making sure you have lots of plants that go all the way to the top of the tank so they feel safe and don't need to hang around at the bottom.

I'm going to do an in depth video on what we did etc. We kept 10 gallons of the water and added to that so it was like doing a 50% water change. We also used some of the old sand and gravel. Having said all that approximately 90% of your bacteria is in the filter so as long as you keep them running while doing it the bacteria won't die off. We set up another tank with the old tank water in for the fish, plants and filters while we did the rescapé.

Thanks! I was a little concerned it would unsettle things but they are doing fine. There was some flaring over one area of the tank but no nipping or fighting. It took a few days for them to sort it out but it's all good now. I think adding in 2 more females helped too. It was a lot of change at once but they all seem very happy. I'm going to add more Bacopa but I'm waiting for it to grow!

I love the entire theme would be able to do omthing like that in a 10 or 15 gallon sorority for mine. would be mad if I do it. plzz let me know because this is beautiful and u would love a setup like this
