For everyone saying I need a bigger tank for my betta, yes I understand I need a bigger tank. I have already upgrade his tank & he seems happy about it

hi, its wonderful that you've upgraded his tank. I hope you've bought Rose a filter and heater as well.

I advise you to also keep in mind the Nitrogen Cycle. if you haven't heard of it, search it up. every fish tank needs to be cycled if you want your fish to live a healthy life in your new tank.

if you haven't cycled his new tank, you might want to search 'how to do a fish-in cycle'.

Please do invest in a bigger tank, a Betta needs at least 2.5 gallons and the tank needs a heater and a filter.

Bettas need 5 gallons minimum IMO also a heater and filter... that fish will be dead in 6 months in that tank.. I hope you're doing water changes...

Cori Elizabeth Well when you buy a tank, the box it comes in comes with a filtration & yes I forgot to mention about the heater I've got. I also got a thermometer with it
Cori Elizabeth

I've read through some, noticed you got a bigger tank but not about a heater or filtration

Those tanks are actually only half a gallon. Bought one before I learned that bettas need at least 2.5 gallons, even when "small".

I saw the comment that you got the bigger tank but to be sure bettas need a filter preferably a sponge filter, heater and plants silk or live they need a minimum 2. 5 gallon but bigger is always better

You have probably been told this already but I do think you might want to get your betta a bigger tank. Its a good temporary size, but realistically you cant heat or filter a tank so small. Just something to think about.
You have a very nice channel though:) Very nice editing.

S AQUATICS you can put a filter and heater but she/he will need to take the lid off and bettas are known to jump. Leave it to the fish experts and if you want to gain knowledge about it then research it. I understand your trying to help but let more educated people deal with it.

Salaar 9898 I respect your opinion, but I'm educated on the topic myself and I'm sticking with mine

Blazing Bettas Thank you. When I upgrade into a bigger tank, I'm going to have this tank as a hospital tank.
Blazing Bettas

Aqua Tanks even with weekly water changes your tank isn't truly getting clean without a filter. I'm glad you plan to upgrade though. It'll benefit your fish greatly:) I started out doing the same and now my bettas live in filtered and heated divided Tanks.

Blazing Bettas yes this is a temporary tank. I am going to get my betta a bigger tank in about 2 weeks when the betta is a bit bigger & where I live is over 100ยฐF my house a.c is set on 87ยฐF which is perfect for the betta. I also do weekly water changes.

Katie Kat I am going to get it a bigger tank when the betta is a bit bigger. The betta it self is quite small which makes it a perfect tank for its size

You should add a little air stone
Patchwork The Dragon
Patchwork The Dragon - 7 years ago
actually, they don't need airstones. Bettas, being Labyrinth breathers, can breathe air from two methods. the regular fish way, from the water, and from going up to the surface and breathing air from the atmosphere. therefore they don't need an airstone. it'll just produce unwanted current for the betta.

Hi, Bettas need a 3 to 5 gallons or more for tanks also they need heaters and filter too and plants and some hiding spots too, but you have a pretty Betta.

Ultima Omega 103 I haven't really thought about big fish... but I think that the rule applies to bettas, and possibly other fish like guppies. Definitely not oscars haha

Mia Elizabeth oh sorry dident read your entire comment I guess if you do take proper care of bettas they would still survive Welp forget about me :P
THE HOLY BUTTFUNGUS
THE HOLY BUTTFUNGUS - 7 years ago
Mia Elizabeth the inch per fish rule is wrong fish need swimming space so you suppose I'm gona but a 10 inch oscar in a 10 gallon tank? Nope plus what about water amount?Small tanks can have ammonia spikes and almost all tanks under a 2.5 don't have filters.I have also have variants of giant imbleis bettas that where larger than 2 inches.
Mia Elizabeth
Mia Elizabeth - 7 years ago
Dolphincutie World I totally agree with you
Dolphincutie World
Dolphincutie World - 7 years ago
Mia Elizabeth Yeah I understand what your saying. I would say 2.5 and up would be right if other people asked me. I'm not saying 2 gallons is bad but if they ask me I would say 2.5 and up. They would be happy and more active in it. Just saying.
Mia Elizabeth
Mia Elizabeth - 7 years ago
Dolphincutie World, I am a betta breeder and have been for 3 years, whilst it is optimal for bettas to have 2.5 gallons or larger they will do just fine in 2 gallons however they will not thrive, again I am with you on bettas needing a large tank but I am simply saying that 2gallons is the absolute minimum
Dolphincutie World
Dolphincutie World - 7 years ago
Mia Elizabeth Bettas need 2.5 and larger tanks. I watch a lot of youtubers and the one that knows and had bettas for a long time says the same thing.
Mia Elizabeth

Taylor ._.Brooke not true because the rule is an inch of fish per gallon, and adult bettas don't exceed 2.5 inches in length. It is recommended though because of decoration and filter space taken up in the tank
Taylor ._.Brooke

Aqua Tanks Actually the minimum for an adult is 2.5 gallons Or larger

Dolphincutie World Thank you & I know. I bought plants for him. My betta is pretty small so I bought it a 1.5 gallon tank. Bettas (adults) actually need at least 2 gallon. Im going to buy it a bigger tank in about 2 weeks when it's a bit bigger
