I have a betta in a ten gallon, but i would like to buy one of your dividers with holes drilled in it so i can get another little guy.. But, i have a few questions..

1- couldnt the bettas see each other through the holes, or would they not be able to make out what they are looking at?

2- if i have a divided tank, do i need two filters, one for each side?

If you get the divider with holes the bettas can see each other from time to time. We do recommend a sponge filter on each side however you can do a sponge filter on one side and an air stone on the other side for water movement.

I haven't replaced it yet and have no plans to replace it. I use root tabs so they feed the plants too.

They both look nice, but I like the left side best. I like the little house-rock. My betta seemed to love being underneath his log whenever I wasn't home, but he would come out and watch me whenever I returned. Such a happy little fish (he'd even do this strange, cute little dance-like thing whenever I turned the radio on, lol. It was so cute)

Yes we run them all day. They don't cause the plants any issues.

We use the root tabs we sell on our website in all our planted tanks. We don't use fertilizer or Co2. The link to them is in the description box of the video.

Yes, it should fit on the assumption the height is including the lid which is usually the case.

Along with dustins fish tanks, your channel is my fav on youtube.. love the betta vids and other fish tanks you have! very natural and lush setups. Thinking of adding a Beta to my 12 gallon community tank with tetras and cory cats.. i know it can be hit and miss and know that there needs to be planted cover in case any chasing happens.. What are your thoughts?

Do you clean it like you do sand? And for the plants, do you shove the roots down past the gravel to the stuff below it?

Yes we clean it with a siphon just like any substrate. With live plants you don't need to do too much siphoning as the plants use the waste as fertilizer. We put the plants into the gravel and the roots soon go down into the Fluval Stratum. This is just a personal preference to top off with gravel you don't have to do that.

I love your channel and your betta tanks!! After the holiday I'm planning on making a divided betta tank with sand and black gravel and redoing my goldfish tank design. I like using pots for my plants because it makes cleaning the substrate easier. I like both sides of this tank, but I really like the tree on the left! I already have 1 betta fish and I can't wait to set up the new tank and get another one! All your fish are beautiful!

No, as long as you use root tabs and have suitable lighting fornthe plants you choose, they will grow just fine.

No defienetly take your time. I believe (from some research) they breed less when there's multiple pairs since they compete for spawning spaces. They are also pretty rare so I've already had a lot of people interested in them since they are easier (space wise) to keep then our regular fancy bettas.

Thanks, I am very interested but I'd need a lot of questions answering before taking them on. I guess my biggest one would be, if they keep having babies what would you do with them? I wouldn't mind having a tank of 6-8 fish but not an endless supply of babies. I wouldn't have an outlet for them.

A heater definitely, they need a consistent temperature of 78-80f. Having a filter is the best thing for your betta, however if you don't have one and do 100% water changes every 2-3 days it should do ok. Not having a filter is a big commitment to keeping your fish healthy. Bettas can survive in less than ideal conditions but they're only surviving not thriving.

Thank you. Sponge filters don't trap dirt as efficiently as a regular filter but they are perfect for betta fish as they produce little water movement. When using a sponge filter you must always vacuum the gravel to remove the fish waste and any excess food. A sponge filter will generally not do this as well as a regular filter.

Thank you. Not really but I think water movement is better if you have filtration on both sides and the tank stays cleaner. We also treat Henry's tank as two separate tanks even though there are holes in the divider.

The right tank is the best in my opinion, just because the red betta really pops out and the setting is quite nice with the elephant and the betta being the focal point and it has a bit more depth compared to the other one. The left side is nice too however, i just find it to be a bit chaotic (not sure where to look) compared to the other one.

Oh, ok. He may be extremely stressed out. Give him time to adjust. Make sure your tank is 78-80f and is planted with places for him to hide. Also be sure the filter is not too strong for him. A strong water flow can really stress a betta out.
