Hey creative pet keeping this video is a year old and I'm new subscriber xD so I just like to watch your vids, yesterday I went to pet land and looked at the beta section, once I saw a koi female betta i was like omg I gotta get that but sadly my 80 gallon was going to be filled with different types of angelfish along with some gouramis. About 1-2 years ago I had a male and female betta the male sadly passed away after 8-9 months I felt really bad but my female was really playful until she got dropsy D: I didn't find out she was in pain until I went to feed her and she wasn't acting right, some people said that she would pass away in 3-4 months. But surprisingly she lived another 7-8 months. I hope no one else experiences this

use epsom salt helps with swim bladder and dropsy 1 tsp dissolved in a gallon let fish rest in there for 30 min and no more dropsy and SBD

melanie lololol You should NOT have cut off your betta's tail. This can stress them out, affect their swimming, and cause them to be in great discomfort. It's just like cutting off human limbs but inhumanly.

that fish tank is breathtaking I love bettas and Guppies I think they're the most beautiful Heavenly fish with colors of the Unseen I has ever seen they are full Rich and deserve a beautiful tank like that and keep your water filled to the top so they have plenty of room to swim, Guppies and bettas are my favorite fish in the world they have unique unseen Heavenly colors like no other breed of fish in the world

My Betta had dropsy and wasn't doing well at all. I did Epsom salt baths 5 nights in a row and he was doing much better. That was back in December 2016. So would highly suggest it .

Tam Lewis This is because the females can establish which one is the alpha out of their group and be fine with it but the males will always be trying to become alpha because they are extremely territorial

hey there! I have a 20 gallon long tank; fairly heavily planted and with a ton of caves and hidey holes (lol). for nine months, I've been keeping a female betta in the company of other fish (not other bettas, mind you). three of her tank mates are being upgraded to a 55g and she will be left with 5 corydoras.
so, my question is this: can I add four females to her tank, even though she has been living there so long? she's so used to company and has always been the LEAST aggressive fish in the tank by far, so that gives me hope. thoughts?

Annie Hurley Short answer, yes, you need at least 5 females for a sorority to lessen the aggression ( more the better which will stop any singling out). They may nip/fight at first but this is common; they're just finding their way with who is higher up in hierarchy.

Abby c Not 3!! you need at least 5 minimum for a sorority, more the better as it lessens the aggression, stick with odd numbers like 5, 7, 9 and so on.

Okay, I knew two would not be good, because those two could possibly fight with each other, and with three it is spread out. Befana is a really calm betta she completely ignores other fish, but is very curios and loves to explore. Max (short for maxie) is a little more in your face betta that will chase fish if they get in her area, but she doesn't nip. befana doesn't really care and she just goes with the flow.

Abby c no, you need at least 3 because that'll spread out the aggression more. And a 20 gallon is best for sororities. A 10 gallon might work but is more risky.

I have a 30gal overstocked tank with goldfish that I'm giving away to a guy. But I have a Siamese algae eater that the lady at the petstore said could be with goldfish but when I looked it up today it said tropical. I want to start a beta sorority in the 30 gal tank when the goldfish are gone. Can I put the Siamese algae eater in it? Also what other fish do you recommend?

Merina Nelson I have had my female betta for nine months with, get this, two goldfish. not recommended for people who don't obsess over caring for their tanks. there's now also five corydoras. the betta is in fact the MOST relaxed fish in the tank. have ideally 20 gallons, maintain ideal water parameters, provide live plants and lots of hiding spaces. never keep bettas with fish that look like them, as that prompts them to attack. don't keep male and female bettas together, they will breed and that's a traumatic event honestly lol
you can keep female bettas together, with caution! five minimum, again with TONS of hiding spaces. xoxox

Merina Nelson you need a large tank to put multiple female bettas together. You must have AT LEAST a 10 gallon although a 20 is recommended as it can allow more room for them and you need a minimum of 3 female bettas, 5 being ideal.

I have 2 Arowana's in same aquarium with other fishes and as far as the other fish are as strong as arowana

+TheSpaceWolf no problem.. also make sure to have a heater that is the proper size for the tank ( you dont want to boil your fish) I would suggest you research betta fish care before you buy one. all ways good to know what you are getting yourself into..:-)

Hi there,I breed guppies so tat I can afford to buy my other pets toys,treats,bedding,and so on. I haven't had a betta for a little while and I want to get some.my LFS has really great bettas that hey get from local breeders and I would like to keep some. But I want to get females and put one in each guppy breeding tanks,I also know that bettas eat fry and I don't want them to depend on fry alone,will they eat some fry and regular food too? I feed blood worms(both frozen and freeze dried),veggie sticks,tropical flakes,and brine shrimp.please respond cause i've allready got more than enough money to a betta in each tank.also one more question:is a Betta fish pronounced beh-tah, or bay-tah?I feel like it would be beh-tah because betamis how you pronounce some gameing things or online courses.thank you:)and if I didn't be specific about something just tell me

They do eat the fry but sometimes are not fast enough to catch them so it is good to feed them normal food as well. Just watch their bodies to see that they are not being overfed. I think there are two ways that are ok to pronounce the betta name. It depends where you are located geographically. Here in Chicago that is how we say betta..but I'm sure it will be different in other places.

they bettas should eat both fry and blood worms. i would be worried about the bettas eating to much bc i have a male betta and a guppy that had 48 babies. i did not want that many babies so i fed them to my betta and he went crazy for them. he would chase them all over his tank. i think it would be ok if you had lots of hiding places and big tanks

It seems that dropsy is more common then I thought. Some people get it more with their fish..some less... I do hope she gets better but realistically I am worried she might not.

Creative Pet Keeping fish names : petal one: pearl or Luna which means moon in Italian. Blue one: Scarlett, Maggie, cerise. red one: flame, jazz, red and white: Mintie cos she looks like the candy colours. Other blueish one: molly, indie. :)

I helped my mom with the dirt to fill in our hotub we're taking out it's old and not Working
my Dog ran away but just Down our friends but he's back now :D
