This may look big until you realize the back is flat, making it super small. My poor betta lives in a 1.5, went from a 10 gallon. :/ moving sucked. so now Im hunting for the perfect for him. I try not to go below 3 gallons, 10 is usually preferred, but i dont have room. So im hunting between 3 and 5 gallon tanks. i dig the fluval spec 5

Most people get the crappy petshop grade low quality cull bettas. They never had a chance at an optimal life besides they are half dead/rotting in the cups when you buy them anyways. Now if someone had a REAL betta either from a HQ breeder or a HQ Thai import for example than it should never go in something awful like this but for a shitty cull who cares i mean this is one of the best things they would probably get to live in besides the cup or a damn little vase... although personally I'd not optfor anything less than 2.5 gallon for the usual crap quality ones if it's real crap but if it's slightly better then preferably a 5.5g as the quality increases so does the tank size up to 20g. I had a betta in a 40breeder mystery snail grow up tank, the betta was the only fish in there (he was a crappy standard red veiltail the same as the millions of other red veiltails that are in cups in stores but he was my first) there was so much food available to him naturally that he would not stop eating, copeods, detritus worms, the teeny tiny little jumping bugs on the surface and the gnats larvae/dead gnats that drowned. He became incredibly obese and I think he got Diabetes and died. :( But he was in a massive tank for him and probably had the best time of his four year life.

Not for a goldfish :( They need a minimum of 10-20 gallons, but this would be great for a female betta.

But videos are needed to make people aware that  one gallons are, at most, only temporary tanks not perm homes.

+DWags 03 But think of the feeling of joy a betta just rescued from a pint cup must have felt being able to really swim for the first time in his life.

This is not adequate housing for a betta for a variety of reasons.
(1) Betta's are tropical fish which means need water temperature between 78-82 degrees Fahrenheit. This water temperature is achieved with an aquarium heater. If betta's are kept in water at room temperature, they will become sluggish, lose their appetites, and develop swim ladder disease.
(2) Betta's (and all fish) need a filter with beneficial bacteria to carry-out the processes of the nitrogen cycle. If you do not know what the nitrogen cycle is please look online. This bowl does not have a filter so there are no beneficial bacteria and the water quality will deteriorate in a matter of days with out frequent water changes. If unhealthy water conditions, Betta's can develop a host of diseases including but not limited to fin rot, velvet, pop eye, fungal infections, etc.
(3) Betta's need space to swim and explore. Unlike what most pet stores say, Betta's do not live in mud puddles. During long droughts, they may temporarily live in a small puddle until the next rain but they don't spend their whole lives in that puddle. A single betta can occupy/claim up to three cubic yards of space. A one gallon aquarium with a heater and filter is the absolute minimum for a betta. The minimum for a betta to thrive is a heated and filtered three gallon aquarium. Some say a five gallon is the minimum. Others say ten. This is obviously a hot topic in fish keeping and to each his own. Just because it is the minimum doesn't mean it's the best for the betta. Just like how humans can go for up to three days without water doesn't mean they should only drink water every three days. And if someone did do that constantly I'm sure they would not be healthy.
Please don't hate. Research on trusted websites before you buy any pet. Do not listen to pet store employees because most of the time they do not know what they are talking about.

Don't you knwo that goldfish can recognise a person's face? Don't you know that bettas have different personalities? Don't you know that fish can feel love? :/
Alkazam
Alkazam - 5 years ago
Though 60 litres is AMAZING for bettas they do really, only need a 10-20 litre tank. However I would reccomend a larger type

You dumb fuck. 2 gallons is adequate for a Betta.

1º - I have many bettas, and these bettas are simply beautiful and actives in these 15l, 20l aquariums, the quality of life of your fish don't primordialy depends for the size of the tank, and so, depends of the QUALITY of water, and after the others fishs with him, and after with the quality of the food, and many other things, after that all, you can tell me about the fish is sad, because he is not.
2º - you know why these bettas are so happy and beautiful???because a 15l, 20l nano tanks are good to him, it's sufficient to him, to play, to eat, to rest, to do exercices, what more he wants?? NOTHING.

Anette Fossli Bø - 6 years ago
Well would you stop torture your fish? :) before you call me stupid, I think you should google "do fish have feelings" ;)
Progressive Wave
Progressive Wave - 6 years ago
Would you stop being so stupid?? a fish doesn't have emotions, for a fish, simply things like a place to live, food to eat,and a good water quality is more then he want, you can see this with the intensity of his color, don't try to compare a human being to a fish, who the brain his soo much primitive :)
Anette Fossli Bø
Anette Fossli Bø - 6 years ago
Okey so your betta says he loves you? Live in a small enviroment? I really hope you and other people can open their eyes someday and realize that this is torture. Would you like to walk in a tiny room the rest of your life?
Progressive Wave
Progressive Wave - 6 years ago
Betta doesn't need 60 lites, 15, 20 liters is fine with a GOOD aquarium, with natural plants a good filter, a good water, a good substract, and he will love you :)
